Thats the bullrush. Each champion has a special ability and that is the big dudes ability. If you could use it in air it'd be hilarious to see someone rocket jump and then bullrun into someone midair.

it looks fun but everything is either getting 1 rocketed or sprayed down in like 2 secs as if its cod or something. hope that's just because they are weak. also the quake movement that we know looks to me like its only on one class -_-

wait didnt they say something about a classic mode being added too?

Honestly it looks pretty good so far
Movement looks classic and the environments definitely represent the Quake name, I just hope they release some class-specific gameplay footage later on so we can see how different they are from one another

they should have got some quake pros a demo version of champions and recorded some crazy frags for the trailer
they should have got some quake pros a demo version of champions and recorded some crazy frags for the trailer
RainofLightthey should have got some quake pros a demo version of champions and recorded some crazy frags for the trailer
There's probably a reason they did that. They want clean, easy to follow frags and not people just prefiring rockets and 180 snapping so fast the camera can't follow it. Notice they showed off most of the gameplay features like bhopping or abilities in choreographed sections and everyone was super low health so the pacing was fast
I'm p hype for this. It looks really good aesthetically and it doesn't look like they've fucked the game up.

I agree but it'd be nice if they'd make a trailer with pros playing so we can get a sense of the skill ceiling it offers.

I read somewhere that there was a strafe-jumping demonstration on stage that wasn't shown at that trailer.
Please let it be true, does anybody have the link?
edit: k, by the wording here seems like it isn't public: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/08/05/quakecon-2016-18-new-details-you-need-to-know-about-quake-champions
"You can sorta tell from the gameplay trailer, but additional footage shown only during the stage demo really drove home the sense of speed in Quake Champions, which will run at a 120hz refresh rate with no upper limit in terms of framerate. We saw a player just bunny hopping their way over gaps and down corridors without any apparent loss of speed. This encouragement to catch air is one of the things that makes Quake, Quake."

Seeing as this was literally some sort of showcase tournament for those that attended I imagine they just enforced the use of the highest graphics and what not to make it look more appealing. We don't actually see any player views themselves so here's hoping we can still tone everything down to have the simple textures and stuff.

I was there when they showed it off. Here's a few impressions:
+ Looks like every champion can strafe jump, some have faster movespeeds/strafe jump speed than others.
+ It's vanilla quake 3 movement aka no air control except for one character that has full cpm aircontrol but has low hp.
+ All the quake weapons are there, plasma is replaced with a nail gun but it looks like it's essentially the exact same weapon.
+ Ranger was the most played champion and he looked really fun. He's the one that shoots an orb that you can teleport to. Several cool plays with it and counter plays against it.
+ Two maps were shown, TDM on a Campgrounds remake and a new map/mode that is basically TDM but with 2 control points. Controlling a point means you get an extra point when you get a kill. 1 kill with no points controlled = 1 point for your team, 1 kill with 1 point controlled = 2, etc).
I'm indifferent about this, but there are timers for items. If an item is taken, a bar will show roughly how long till it spawns. I think if they want to do item timers this is the way to do it, not on your hud. This means you still have to see the item location to know when it will be up.
- You can not see anything. One of the most cluttered visuals I've seen, and I usually only complain about that when I'm actually playing. I also know what's what in the game since I've played quake but it's still hard to tell what's going on. When you are low hp your entire screen is covered in blood. Game has to have options for turning off particles/effects/contrast.
- Physics look rigid. I may be wrong on this one, as it really takes playing the game to get a feel for it, but weapon interactions with enemies seemed to have little effect. I'm talking about knockback from projectiles/hitscan. For me, this is one of the features that makes tf2/quake so much more fun than other fps games.
Overall looks pretty good and I'm excited to try it.

Let's just hope that all the graphical and physical flaws you listed (you're amazing btw) will be fixed in the final version of the game, especially the visual clutter 'n stuff.
Im a guy that can't even aim without his picmip 10 and no viewmodel.
The game is still in its early stages, lets hope for the best

That's pretty sick. It'd be cool if other characters had different movement style. Certain characters have Q3 movement. Certain ones have QW movement. Maybe wall-running/jumping for some.
