I was skeptical because I suspected there would be a lot of stuff they wouldn't deliver on given the scope claimed vagueness of anything ever said about what there was to do in the game, the fact that the only coverage was on ign and the size of the dev team involved. The hype behind the game was honestly stupid. Straight up lying from the devs isn't good either though.
Having said that I don't think this is the flop of the year. Having watched a few of the PS4 release streams the part of the game that I was most interested in, (which was literally just walking around and exploring planets on foot) actually seemed to be. The best streams I watched of the game were of people walking around the same planet for hours.
If they fix the horrendous performance issues I might actually pick this one up just for that aspect because it was the part of the game I was most interested in anyway.

the301stspartanWhat can you actually do in game? Is there significant gameplay other than walking around on the planets? Do the creatures attack in various ways or have some sort of interesting behaviors? Is there any form of character progression?
I know I could google this and watch videos but if I'm gonna get it I'd like it unspoiled.
The gameplay is essentially land on planet and then gather resources for shit to go to next planet ad infinitum. Discover randomly generated species with the same generic behaviors and look at the planets that begin to meld together after a couple hours.
If you don't have an unnatural obsession with exploration the game will get boring somewhat quickly.

Pre-ordered the game on March. Even though I set the graphics to high, didn't look like much changed, and according to some posts on Reddit, not many options work. I spawned on a dense flora planet, and even though my PC isn't a beast, it wasn't melting (but there some were occasional lag spikes). Not to mention the FOV having to be adjusted externally, clunky UI, controller inputs being shown while using keyboard... And you get a grip on what the game has to offer within an hour of playing. Yeah, just sent a refund request.

watch dogs was bad, and I mean really bad, but it wasn't this bad. Sure it looked bad and was a little boring but at least they didn't actively advertise features that just didn't exist a week before launch (I'm aware the E3 demo from years prior was a little misleading featurewise). and even though it performed badly, it still performed way better than NMS... at least turning down the settings raised your FPS lol

Murphy law of NMS: The less you are hyped, the more you will enjoy (not too much anyway).

#75 can confirm on the refunds front, I had around 2 hours in the game and received a full refund.
