so I play on a mac and I've done everything in my power and knowledge to bump my frames. I get around 80-90 with maxframes and every visual aspect of the game either disabled or put to the lowest setting. mat_phong 0, all that shit.
i've heard people talking about windows emulators getting them more frames..i have very limited knowledge of this kinda thing.
any other mac players/any tips to help boost frames?
thanks so much

hi berry have you tried the getting that smooth texture pack that a lot of users use to help boost frames?

I'd first try installing an fps config to see if you can eke out any more optimization on OSX.
If that doesn't do enough for you, try installing a windows partition with bootcamp. Emulators mean that you're running OSX and Windows concurrently which is going to hurt your frames big time. I doubled my fps by running TF2 via a bootcamp Windows 7 partition + fps config.

I'm pretty sure the smooth texture pack doesn't boost frames at all

yeah if you want high fps your only real option is to get windows instead tf2 is optimised like absolute shit for mac/OSX and macs aren't that great with graphics intensive things like tf2

I don't know how different it'd be on macs, but most of the settings should increase fps either way. You're not going to get great fps until you start using windows though.

Flat textures don't increase frames.
Clean TF2 increases frames because of the unlit materials, but that's also what breaks in sv_pure.
Generally speaking, there's no mods that significantly help fps and still work in sv_pure 2. Iirc the biggest boost is the no hats mod, and that's not that huge.

can you inform us of the year/model of your mac? I get upwards of 120-150 frames on my 2013 macbook pro, and I just use comanglias config. You can use bootcamp, but you have to buy windows 10. This video helped me a lot with the bootcamp process https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtYFTlRadK4
