FaceIt is not going to be a league system for TF2 and it offers almost none of what ESEA offers.

Im not saying you should replace Esea . im saying that we dont really need a new tf2 league cause what he is trying to do is already being worked on by Faceit.

And some of the problems he mentioned like sandbagging woudn't be as big of a problem in a faceit league as it is in Ugc because it will automatically place you into a div depending on your performance

Ok you just have no idea what you're talking about.

The faceit league system correlates to their pugs. Teams can not enter their leagues, it simply tracks who has won the most pugs for that league in that month. It's far closer to TF2 center than to ESEA/ETF2L in terms of its goals and what it provides.

This proposed league and faceit have nothing in common and could co-exist just as well as ESEA and faceit do now. If this league actually happens and can replace UGC it would be a godsend. I still think people who say your first season of competitive should be in open are insane and are driving away people who would move up eventually but don't have the heart to lose 80 rounds in a row over the course of a season. A new free alternative would be amazing I just doubt it's going to happen.

Instant failure right there. The sentence itself doesn't even really mean anything, but as someone who has worked with WordPress and knowing pretty much the entire industry's (companies looking for a content management system) experience, WordPress is hell unless you're running purely stock. Plugins for WordPress are poorly made, not secure, and not worth trusting. If you don't sign up for this league, don't reuse passwords.

And yeah, this will just break up the TF2 community more (if it even succeeds), exactly what it needs.

ETF2L was created in 2 weeks so Wordpress was the best option for them at the time. I think this guy is trying to go for a more bespoke feel, but is also aiming to make it generic so that other people use it and that is something I don't see working. Making the site from scratch would ultimately give the best experience for the user with the least added useless extras for the dev.

I was mostly objecting to everyone having their own league, not necessarily wordpress. The only thing worse than the community split between 5 formats/rulesets/leagues is the community split between 500 formats/rulesets/leagues.

in this community for how small it is, and how stubborn people are, basically the current league or leagues need to die and a new one needs to rise up, having 3 leagues is just splitting up the community even more. People have these great ideas i see, but in order for them to work the predecessor needs to die in order for the new to succeed.

Unless from the start of this it's better than ESEA on multiple fronts, there's not going to be a mass exile of people to this proposed league.

We saw what happened with CEVO and where that put us. It's not the fault of the CEVO staff or people, but it's been proven over multiple occasions that unless we're getting something clearly better than what we had before (take the switch from pug.me to pugchamp for example), it's unfortunately not going to be a massive hit on all fronts.

From what I saw reading it, there were good ideas that were presented. But we as the small competitive community that we are need to see something that will either force our current standards of leagues to either raise the bar or risk losing their playerbase.

tbh while it'd be great to see some stepping up in terms of what leagues we have - I don't see this succeeding unless he's got a boatload of money to pump into it, otherwise his idea that sponsors will pick up the cost is just not happening.

He might be doing a pilot season to pick up sponsors, and then rake in the followers.

Let me be more vocal then, no need to attack me. His idea of an open to use (open source?) plugin is good and WP is powerful enough to run much bigger websites.

If he launches this in NA then all it needs is players to give feedback. Why not play his league + your other main league (whatever that is) instead of playing your main league + scrims?
