Trailer just dropped, looks alright, skyrim remastered means its atleast not weaker than current gen which is something given nintendos history although that heavily depends on the battery life, which could singlehandedly kill the entire console if they fuck it up
also interested in what that will mean for nintendos handheld line

The bit at the end where they are playing competitive splatoon in front of a huge crowd is pretty fucking funny

A moment of silence for all the friendships that will die due to arguments over who gets which controller.

Third party support :D good way to start
anyways switch looks like a decent attempt by nintendo to get the casual gaming market back which kinda died for them some between the Wii, Smartphones and the Wii U, lets just hope that "hardcore" gamers arent forgotten in all of this tho
That and they need to sort out their incredible complicated online interaction features (friendcodes lol)

The way one interacts with the console itself is beautiful, it feels like cartridges are back in a way.

this is really impressive, i hope it actually works as advertised

This actually looks pretty awesome, I'm glad Nintendo's making a design choice based on usability and convenience, rather than having gimmicky features.
The commercial raises some questions though. Who gets invited to a rooftop party and decides to bring their portable console with a small screen and only two controllers? Why has Splatoon had a $1 million tournament? Who lets a great dane off of it's leash at a public park and then proceeds to ignore it and play videogames?

Yeah everyone in all these commercials seem to have lives that feature rooftop gatherings far more than is normal

I predict that/those controller(s) is/are going to give you hand- and wrist-AIDS within the hour, especially with the heavy console attached. That being said, it looks a lot more interesting than any other console of the past few years if the battery and hardware are decent.

If this thing works as well as the Nvidia Shield tablet it will be very impressive, definitely looking forward to it as that was imo the best mobile gaming device because of its ability to output to hdmi very fluidly. Also can't wait for it to be hacked to see the emulators, those controllers look perfect for playing some turtles in time or mario party 2 when just chilling between classes.

I really don't get the appeal of tablet OR modular controllers, can someone shed a bit of light on this for me by any chance

Looks really neat but it all depends on the games. Like any console tbh. We see a new mario and a new mario kart. And possibly a Splatoon 2? More likely it's a remaster.
It is really interesting that were going back to cartridges as well. So many interesting things about.

I dont get it at all. This doesn't excite me in any way, but likely because when I go outside I dont have time to do fun videogame things :/

imo the biggest appeal is the ease of playing with a bunch of people on the go. I can see where you're coming from but as a college student this seems a lot more convenient than finding a tv/n64 just to play a few rounds of mario kart with whoever I'm chilling with. If I'm at home or near somewhere with a TV I don't think I'd ever use this over a "real" console. I'm not convinced those features are useful at all for the majority of people, but for students and kids this thing is a dream come true.

I really doubt a tablet can run skyrim at a decent fps, but I hope I'm wrong.

For the record, NONE of the games shown except for Zelda are actually confirmed, especially Skyrim. Bethesda put out a press release saying they were happy to help with the trailer but have nothing to announce yet. Similarly, all of those publishers and developers listed just say they're interested, not that they've got games on the way.
Still looks exciting though.
