Yo,
Black friday is coming up soon and im looking to spend between $50-$150 CAD on a pair of headphones.
A couple of personal preferences:
Over the ear
Closed back
Noise isolating
clear vocals and good bass

All suggestions are welcome

I don't have anything to compare with, but I got these ones months ago and I like them.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000065BPB/

They block out a ton of outside noise it's like wearing moderate ear plugs. They do have a coiled cable though. Some people prefer not to have that. Durable and foldable too. I have a big head and they were tight at first but they feel normal now. They'll stick out from ur head a bit on top just cause of the shape of them.

Audio Technica ATH-M50x, I guarantee they have everything you've said you're looking for. I recommend getting replacement velour pads, pleather is garbage by nature.

Go with the 280 pros like listed above. Had my pair for years and the only problem I'm starting to have is the earpads are starting to tear apart pretty badly. Bassy sounds come through especially well, and overall sound comes through really clearly. They're pretty comfortable on my head, and they've held up really well and can take a hell of a beating. If you use sound queues for anything in game you can soundwhore really well (especially when trying to listen for subtle things like uber masks or footsteps).
Best headset I've owned, grab 'em if you want decent quality headphones.

From the reviews iv seen by big tech nerds on youtube, most people say they're not too good on the bass tho.

Agreed. Sennheiser makes quality products that are well worth the investment. Unlike Beats, who make trash and pass it off as a premium product.

+1 to Schweppes and hooky. I bought the sennheiser 598's last holiday season for $100 shipped. as you said, wait until black friday & cyber monday. additionally, I would keep your eye on r/buildapcsales.

tbh your options are p slim for your price range + preferences
if you don't have an amp, you can't get the dt990s which will sound amazing for the price (but they're open back)
if you get 770s, make sure to get a lower impedance model unless you have an amp

  • dt770
  • 598
  • m50/m50x

ive owned both the sennehiser 280s and the audio technica m50xs and while both are good quality headphones id go for the m50x

the hd280s get really painful to wear longer than 30 minutes and they are really really heavy. and the cord is also so long good luck taking them anywhere without tripping over the wire.

Thanks for the suggestions bois but these philips seem to be the best buy for the current price they're going for here in Canada http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826138190&cm_re=shp_9500-_-26-138-190-_-Product, I decided to go with open back ones for now and depending on the black friday sales i might pick up another closed back pair (either the M40x or 280 pros by the looks of it)

Oh shit, SHP9500 hype, great choice. If you ever want a headset microphone for this, the V-Moda Boompro trumps the ModMic.
