Most times a team where all 6 players are playing together for the first time it might be better to start off in open

I don't think it's good for you make an IM-roster, when you played 5 matches in open and went 8-8 this season. Furthermore, you dont really stand out from anyone that's been in open this season and I don't think people of higher skill would join a team where they have no experience with playing among each other.
Also it's much better to just get a good season of open and know where to fix your mistakes rather than go into IM, be dumpstered, and not able to recognize and fix mistakes on your own.

afaik you still need 1 other person who played last season to play 3 of the first 4 matches without ffws or ffls to keep the roster from being marked dead and demoted to open for not following the hijack rule

Okay, lemme preface this by saying that I also recommended to Wolsne that he try high open first, but honestly all the people doing the same in this thread don't really know him. They're just responding based on the *idea* of some open player who's way too big for his britches and thinks for no good reason that he should play IM--there are many of those, so I don't blame them.

Honestly, though, if there's anyone who could survive a really difficult IM season they weren't really prepared for, make good adjustments, and actually learn a ton from it without killing their motivation, it's Wolsne. His mid-open record from last season is a lot more impressive once you realize that he had zero comp experience and barely any hours in the game just a few months ago. His capacity to improve rapidly while also keeping perspective on the game is genuinely exceptional. I think the only thing that would really hold him back from having a productive season is finding enough players like him--there aren't many.

why is everyone who haven't even played a decent season of open on even a decent open team trying to make teams for IM?

The pieces aren't just going to fall right into place when you get a completely new roster after doing "ok" in open.

Granted, frenzy is a knowledgeable player who can probably do decent in IM due to doing well in open and can lead the team in the right direction, but seriously.you should do well in open then make the step to IM, with the same or most of the same players imo

you seem like someone I sure would like to play with! seriously though just play open man. If you take this roster with just yourself into IM the only people that will actually consider joining this team are 5 other players that also, like yourself, aren't qualified for IM and you're going to get slapped in scrims against people who are way better than you and you'll probably die before the roster hijack rule has a chance to kill your team for you.

Side note: does anyone else remember like 5 seasons ago when in order to make an IM team the standard was that you and the 5 players you were playing with had to all have not only made open playoffs, but actually WON A GAME IN OPEN PLAYOFFS the season before (obviously there were exceptions to the rule, but that was the general pre-requisite for making IM). I understand that the playerbase and the division have changed, and this doesn't really apply to your or this LFP but I think its crazy to look at how in, say S18 for example you had to prove yourself as one of the top teams in open in order for you to be bumped up into IM. Now anyone who plays 1 season of open and does better than 7-9 feels that they're too good for open and decides that they're ready to play in IM.

my advice to you would be to either:
a: kill this team and LFT as a low-im player if you actually feel like you're ready.
b: remake this team and LFP in open and actually earn your way out of open.

While I mostly agree with dirtymort, why would he get slapped in scrims any more than if his esea roster was in open? Your division has very little to do with what level you lfs for in discord. Most high open teams look for high open low im and many low im teams do the same.

In my experience this only happens between maybe the top 6 teams of open and bottom of IM. the difference is what you label your team, especially is discord where there are specific categories of skill. as a leader if i see a team labeling themselves as my "skill division" and they really aren't, its really misleading and honestly as waste of a scrim.
