I don't know if this was asked before or if it was a thread but I am still curious about this...
Do you think that you will get a TF2 burnout? (get bored of the game and just leave it) or keep playing it for a couple of years and still enjoy it
For me, I don't think I will get bored of the game and there is no other game for me right now that is this addictive and interesting. Maybe I will stop playing TF2 if they make a game that's better than TF but for now I'm still addicted. Sure the game has its ups and downs but I still love and enjoy playing it.

I used to think like this and it leads you to question your existence and if you're using your time well.
Now I just think "TF2 is a hobby, I like my hobby. I keep playing hobby."

i'm certainly burnt out already, but still follow the competitive scene because it's great fun to spectate
I didn't get burned out, but I reached a point last summer where I kept playing the game even though I wasn't really enjoying myself and I knew I wasn't doing anything valuable with my time (this was before I discovered comp and played valve servers 24/7).
Mind you, this was all during the worst stages of a harsh-ish depression, and doing nothing with my life but playing pubs was not helping in the least bit. I ended up deciding on quitting TF2 just for a month, just so I can see how positive of a change that would provide. Looking back I don't think it really helped, but at the same time it was a much needed break from the same grind every single day.
Now that I've discovered comp and am taking it as seriously as I can, it's something I can actively participate in and look to improve in, interacting with any lovely/interesting people I bump into rather than just playing the same pubs every day alone. So I'm less prone to burning out now for sure.

I never got sick of the game, but I did get sick of dealing with some of the people playing mixes and pugs and shit. Wound up quitting because scrims weren't enough. Also because Fuck Valve
If you love memes though that will never happen to you.

well i'm not really into videogames besides tf2 so it's not like i'm gonna move to ow or something like that
i only play other games when i'm curious bored or playing with friends
i'm prob gonna quit tf2 when everyone else does, not to fit in with the crowd, but to keep in touch with people i've met in tf2
the only reason why i'm playing tf2 atm is to meet new people and to have fun with them
i still find tf2 fun but i'm pretty sure i'll burn out one day

I kind of have a burnout. I still love TF2 but don't really feel the need to play as much. Picked up Path of Exile recently instead and enjoying that atm.
Haven't quit TF2 fully and I still pub/mix with friends every couple of days. Though the desire to play competitively has kind of disappeared. I'm rusty now and playing again until I reach my old level no longer seems worth the investment.
I'm still sort of active in the TF2 Twitch community and still watch comp when I see tftv is live. tf.tv is also still one of my most visited bookmarks.
I enjoyed TF2 without ever even considering picking up another game for 3 years and I don't regret it. Will probably even play more TF2 in the next couple of months because PoE is too addicting and I can't really play the new season a lot because of exams.

When i get burnt out i play another class or take a season off and come back for more.
I will leave when i find something i like as much as TF2 but with this new Moba/FPS meme i don't see that happening.

I'm getting a little burnt out with pubs. They're just a bit easy for me now, although I am at the stage where fucking around with stupid loadouts is fun.
I really need to get on a team and play comp. I'm not really good enough to be in demand with many teams though. Well, I doubt I am. I've started playing the Valve comp mode with a friend who hasn't played TF2 in a while and we're actually having fun with it. Mainly due to talking shit in discord tbf. That's aided with the burnout feeling a bit.

I burned out a long time ago. Mainly due to a few factors(I lost my best mouse), school, and other games. I usually just enjoy playing lobbies cause they are more casual and convenient for me or play in a empty-ish server with my close friends. I still like the game and love this community overall. It's unfortunate that the game isn't getting the proper updates/matchmaking/attention it deserves.
TF2 is still definitely a fun and great game overall, but it'll burn out until Valve sparks it back up again(it took some huge hits this year).
Speaking of lobbies, every time I check tf2center it's essential dead in NA lobbies, and I never see TF2s games go on. Where can I find some casual lobbies that don't require a mic?

I really like tf2, doing damage just feels so good. My quake damage sounds are like hardwired to my brains reward center in someway. What makes doing damage so satisfying is its very purely dm based. The trade off between moving fast giving you better dodging but harder to hit shots makes this game very interesting.
Being (very) bad at this game really is accelerating the burnout process unfortunately

Really?, for me its just making me more keen to get better and play more.

I haven't played TF2 in months.
I haven't played any TF2 outside of MM and MvM in years.
So... make of that what you will.

rowpiecesi only play tf2 when i want to play tf2
Same, some people are over dramatic on the "I quit TF2" thing (some people may have good reasons to quit for a long long time) they would either play it 24 7 or not play it anymore, when I'm asked if i'm gonna quit the game sometime or if I get bored of it I just respond "I play it when I feel like doing so"

wish i could pug scrim all the time thats all i thrive about, i love scrimming
I don't get burnt out. People worry that with how hard I push myself every day that I'll lose enjoyment in the game and come to hate it, but that hasn't happened yet, and I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future.
I love me some tf2.
and the occasional quake
There are occasions where I get "burnt out" or bored of a specific class, but tf2 is a wonderful game where you can play more than one class, which is why it keeps it interesting, thus lowering the chances of me getting burnt out.
Everything about the competitive scene is addictive, which is why I'm still here.

I get burnt out, but usually taking a season off or playing a different class, different game, and picking up a new hobby for awhile helps.
