I don't really know what you mean by "clean TF2" but if you mean TF2 without any modifications or configurations, sure it is. In the end configs and stuff are just good for making the game look or act like it suits for you the best. If you're good with the default configuration and graphics of the game then there's no reason for you to change it.

I for myself do have some modifications and configs for which I got some reasons and explanations which might suit to you as well, but like I said , I'm not the default and these are basically for the little things. So if you're interested in some basic custom things add me or some other guy, if you don't see any disadvantages or things that annoy you while playing just keep playing, if you keep doing it you might possible bump on things that annoy you an yourself.

edit: Tfw you basically have to check everything you write.. Well, why woudn't really simple graphics and stuff work if they suit to you? It's still a question of taste and habit. I still don't really understand the question tbh.

iirc this only works on offline servers because a lot of servers use a certain sv_pure value (I think it's 2)
