Comp.tf is a good place to start learning about comp if you don't have anything specific to ask atm

playcomp.tf is a great place to start, comp.tf and training.tf are great general resources.

accept that you will be wrong often, and also that many other people in this community are extremely jaded. the shit talk never ends, but if you keep playing, you will get better, and there are enough people in this community that you will meet people you like playing with. watch videos of competitive play here and there, try to watch some comp guides if everyone says they're good, no matter how hard they are to watch.

#1 BEST TIP NA/EU/OZ ABSOLUTE EZ WAY TO GET GUD!!!! CLICK BELOW!!!!!!!!

do whatever you can to boost your FPS such as an FPS config. try to aim for at least 120+ at all times.

Play lots of MGE/DM (http://www.teamfortress.tv/servers/?region=eu). Getting your aim/movement up to par will make the game much more enjoyable and it will help you execute what you learn from guides.

Download mumble. You'll have to use it for just about everything except faceit.

If someone gives you shit for being a n00b just tell them you're new and don't get too emotional about it.

TF2 is a small community so even at a low level your image matters a lot. don't be a dick.

Don't be afraid to add people on steam! Networking is important. You can add me if you want. http://steamcommunity.com/id/s-a-a-m

find a class that you enjoy and are good at and run with it, but more importantly try to play/learn every class and its role/capabilities.

for example, if you want to main scout, do what capnfapn said and grind your dm/mge to work on your aim, but also try playing soldier and demo in pugs. itll help you become a more versatile player but itll also give you the knowledge of each of those classes and how you should go about taking a fight with them while playing your main.

and to continue you on with the example, just because you are a scout main doesn't mean you can't do jump maps for soldier and demo too. jump and surfing maps are a great way to improve strafing, steady your aim, and learn character control. also try to find a sensitivity that suits you and use the same sensitivity on every class to build muscle memory. changing your sensitivity too much when you first start will make it a lot harder (imo) to build consistency in your gameplay.

try to also watch demo reviews and ask for a mentor. there are lots of higher level players that are more than willing to go over the basics with you and over time dissect your demos and work on smaller issues in your game play. some great demo reviewers on youtube that i learned a lot from are Marxist, YouMustMike, and Seagull.

finally, welcome to the community. hope you stick around!
