NFS 5 aka Porsche Unleashed, one of my first PC games ever.
NFS MW (2005) is also amazing.
FlatOut 1 and 2 (lost of fun and sick ass soundtracks).

Man, I just realized how many racing games I've played. My favorite overall would be Forza 4, which is a simcade, but aside from it I've only played arcade racers and I can't say that I can choose a favorite because they're all pretty good in that non-offensive kind of manner:
- NFS:U and MW '05 (U2 was merely okay to me, MW got the open world right)
- Burnout Revenge and Paradise (really want to play 3, from what I understand it's the holy grail of arcade racers)
- F-Zero X (the soundtrack is god tier but the AI seems to be cheating)
- Forza Horizon (anyone reach the final race? talk about cheating AI holy shit)
- Nitronic Rush
- Project Gotham Racing 3 (the soundtrack was so unhinged and great at the same time... J-pop and classical stations anyone?)
- Trackmania (played a couple, they're mostly the same really)
I'm playing the original Wipeout right now and hating the power-up bollocks and collision physics. Shame, because the game looks fantastic for its time. I won't give up on the franchise just yet because 2097 is supposed to have fixed the physics, but this one still makes me rage pretty hard.
Also they gave out GRID a month or two back, and boy this game is hard. Worst part is, I can't tell where my own incompetence ends and AI rubber banding begins.

Gran Turismo 3 and 4 are the only games I've put almost as many hours on as TF2, that shit was my life as a teen. Also
- Microprose's Grand Prix 3, really good F1 sim despite being really old
- Richard Burns Rally and Colin McRae 2005
- rFactor's realism is great but it's pretty difficult on a controller without assists. I miss having a steering wheel
I don't really play that many racers these days, TF2 and RPGs are to blame. Been trying to learn rFactor 2 but it's even more difficult on a controller.

motorstorm pacific rift was great, loved playing that with my friends 4 split screen
Nascar Racing 2003 had a bunch of mods too. Made by the people who currently run iRacing, and previously Grand Prix Legends, which at the time was the most difficult racing simulation of the early 2000s. It's similar to TF2 in that it has a technical depth that leads to having a high skill ceiling, i.e. rocket/sticky jumping.
Gran Turismo games have always been awesome. GT5 is still great for quick runs. I've personally had racing wheels since I was 16 (and I'm almost double that now), but don't use mine much these days.

shorasPorsche Unleashed
Woah, never thought someone else played it too, it was a great game, there was some really cool features on it like car customization and some fun cheat codes like the one that converted all cars into remote control cars :D
