too much talk about who the best is, i really just wanna know who the 2nd best is
Zebbosai gotta be the forever second.

Depends on if you define best as being good at all classes or if you mean best at a single class. If you mean best at a single class banny isn't even top 3 imo. Mike, clockwork, seagull, and maybe a few others are all better than b4nny is at whatever class.
But if we are talking clone someone 5 times and make them a team then runners for the second best probably include zebbosai, starkie, yuki, mike, and a bunch of other players I am definitely forgetting about. If I had to guess thought I'd go with starkie. In fact if we could do this it would not surprise me if stark was actually the best and banny was second.

If we determine "best ever" based on success at the highest level, b4nny is the second best player ever. He has three world championships under his belt, and nobody else has more.
Blaze, however, also has 3, but he has never lost an international LAN, so he is the best

clock. i'd give the edge to b4nny because of longevity at the top, being probably the best demo ever in his prime, ability to play any class at high invite level, but mostly because froyotech with him maincalling wins rounds on openings other teams don't even notice.
Yeah for every class b4nny is great at there's one player (at least) who is even better than him, e.g. clockwork on scout, alle on demo. That said, he's roughly 2nd best at so many classes that if you assigned a numerical value to player ranking on each class and added that all up for b4nny he would be above any other player in the game by a fair margin.
That is to say nobody is as good at as many classes as him really, even if he isn't 1st best at all of them.

Ams is a good player, but is he really the second/third best player of all time?

zebbo obviously

realistically the "second best" would have to be someone who did well on multiple classes. Platinum or Zebbo are probably both good shouts
Its not just about "being good" on multiple classes. Any Invite/Prem player can play multiple classes with some degree of competence.
The only way to be in the discussion is if they performed successfully at the highest levels on multiple classes. That means LAN performances in my opinion. Only very few players have been able to do that effectively.
I'm sure the list is longer than these few but off the top of my head:
b4nny - Sold/Scout/Demo
Plat - Sold/Demo
Harb - Med/Sold
Zeb - Sold/Scout
Other players mentioned already that shouldn't be mentioned:
Mike, clockwork, seagull, bdonski, ipz, TLR, blaze, alle, yuki

if you count pocket and roamer as 2 roles though then seagull and mike definitely still belong

Personally, I don't count them as 2 roles but I can see how some ppl would want to. If that was the case then the same would have to be done for pocket/flank scouts which makes this entire discussion a lot worse.

I do not think anyone has more second place finishes than Zebbosai, so that would make him the second best. (Flawless logic).
Also the argument that people needs to play multiple classes is sort of invalid. I have no doubt Mike could destroy on scout, however if you had option to have Mike on your team you would most likely put him on solly. (i know he played demo at i46, however i started to pay attention to comp tf2 after i46.) Very few people talk about Mikes time as demo, can someone say if it because it was bad or just overshadowed by his soldier play?
Same with clockwork, he could probably do good on solly, but putting him on anything other than flank scout would be shooting yourself in the leg. Clockwork played solly very early in his tf2 days. he is featured in one of the Fragged by TLR movies.
I see the multiclass argument however there are people that are so good on their main it is foolish to take them on any other class.
