ZestyThe Jetpack can't be part of the base class for pyro because the class has backpack cosmetics which would have to be removed from the game for it to work.
Pretty hyped for the buffs to scout and crossbow and nerfs to soldier coming in this patch tho :)
The Quick-Fix clips with that medic mech-pack and gunboats clips with my cool soldier shoes...

Those are both unlocks though. I'm suggesting that it won't be on pyro at base because those cosmetics would always conflict with it no matter what you have equipped.

I think the fart taunt is evidence about if it is an unlock or not. The fart taunt is obviously connected to the jetpack, since the gas is coming from the jetpack exhaust. (pyro can't fart gas from his suit, or else he would be vulnerable to fire)

brazil was played ages ago in 4s, season 2 or 3, and i guess its been back in the 4s rotation for a bit now as of the past 4 seasons. Was a decently fun map, there's a lot of small side paths than can be annoying to watch tho

whether or not the jetpack is good is dependent on what else they changed/fixed about the pyro. if it's a means of evening out shit like airblast nerfs by giving them a better mobility tool then it's good
alternatively, it's the only change given to pyro, they spent ten thousand years just to do that and tf2 is dead forever. either/or

Not sure why anyone would be concerned over a jetpack. Vertical mobility has never been as important as horizontal mobility, and unless you can tilt the jetpack or do some sort of horizontal boost, it doesn't seem like it will help the Pyro in closing any meaningful distances.
Also no reason to believe this is the only major change for the Pyro class in the update named after the Pyro. Airblast and flamethrowers might still be reworked.

If it is at the cost of his secondary it won't matter. A Pyro with only a flamethrower will get absolutely shredded by hitscan. Might be fun for memeing in pubs with the backburner but i doubt it will really change anything.

i know they're planning on changing flame mechanics, but currently the flame particles come out at the pyro's speed + their speed (or something like that), meaning that this jetpack could potentially give flamethrower crazy range if you can jetpack forward
