It started happening after one of those two or three smaller updates we've had recently. I normally get around 160-200 FPS in fights (6v6 fight, if less players on screen FPS is a bit higher). Every now and then I'll drop down to between ~60-80 FPS.
I'm using Chris' max fps, I'm on dx8, I don't have any viruses, and everything is how it should be I'm more than sure. Any help?

Actually, I am experiencing the same drops. I believe the update may have broken something/ made dx8 even worse than Valve is already making it.

Sometimes, I lose connection to steam servers, or friends servers. While its reconnecting/dropping connection my fps drops from 131 to about 60. Maybe you're experiencing the same thing.

I was just trying to stream and it was dropping my fps randomly. It'd stay at 300 then just plummet to 20 and then back to 300.
On dx9
Works normally when I don't stream which is odd cause I've never experienced difficulty with that before.

I've had the same problem, but on dx9 - only started recently.
Verifying, Defragging, changing my config (I just switched to different chris' configs (and mat queue modes) - I think it has something to do with the overlay or steam, every time I pull it up my ping spikes in game and my FPS gets absolutely owned.

This has to be a problem with one of the latest updates. Too bad I can't make my game look like an N64 game anymore, I think.

i have exactly the same problem since on of the recent updated and havent found a fix for it so far, please keep me updated if theres anything i can do,

reinstalled tf2
i used to run tf2 on constant 300fps and now randomly, my fps just drop down to 20 to instantly go back up to 300 and so on,which ends in a massive lagg you can literally feel.
It´s super annoying and i had to play my official vs QN like this, which prolly was the 2nd most important game for crackclan this season. Feel free to add me on steam if you think you can offer a solution or any idea, love.

Something that I noticed after the update today, it'll feel like I'm playing at <30fps sometimes, while in net_graph my reported frame rate will be at least 200fps. I notice it on cp_badlands the most out of all the main 5cp maps.
My game will just become really sluggish/jittery while I stay looking at a certain spot or remain in a certain area of the map.
Anyone else getting this? Or got a fix?

I was getting drops on my SSD, I bumped the cap up to 130 fps from 120, and it doesn't seem to happen anymore, but it may be coincidence.
