Poor Lange. Sort of related question, here's my results -

http://www.pingtest.net/result/78113620.png

I usually ping around 90 to Chicago if my internet isn't spiking. But my ping is never stable, and it frequently sits around 100-130, and on a basically daily basis I get extended periods where my ping is fluctuating from 100-700, and I get rubberbanding etc. When I play TF2 it's pretty much always warpy. I have a Verizon apartment monopoly deal so until I move I can't change internet. I do run dsl wirelessly to my laptop. So my question is: would hardwiring to the dsl box make a significant difference? It'd be a big pain and other people live here too. But I'd consider if there'd be a big change.

Langealfunksodo you need more donations lange?
No amount of money can fix this right now. I still have the money from the donations I received before I moved. As soon as that money can be spent on better internet, it will be.

there aren't any other options around here really to be honest, I'd try to get charter to do something about the node if possible because the only options are really charter and att. Att will give you better ping but their speeds blow. I think charter switched ceo's or something a while ago because their online support division on broadband reports got the axe, so it's probably gonna be harder for you to get in contact with someone who can do something about it sadly.

Lange - did you have a tech come out and check the line that's running into your apartment? I had a similar problem that kinda just happened all of a sudden when i lived my my old apartment complex. I requested a tech come out after 30 minutes of phone troubleshooting (i.e. reboot your pc and router).

The tech came out and traced the line from the main box all the way to the port in my utility room - he found the copper connection that it rode in on was loose and replaced it, bingo problem solved. Worth a shot if nothing else, and it should be free as tech support is included in just about in every contract.
