After many months of anticipation, Rewind II will kick off tomorrow at Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California, featuring the highest level of competition in TF2.
Format
The tournament will begin with an open qualifier portion, in which 14 teams will compete in a Swiss group stage for the last spots in the Main Event. Shortly after, the teams in the Main Event will be drawn into two round-robin groups, in which the top two teams in each group will proceed to the upper bracket and the bottom two will be dropped to the lower bracket. The eight teams will then fight their way through the double-elimination bracket for the title of Rewind II champion.
Teams
The following teams have confirmed spots in the Main Event:
- froyotech (invited)
- Se7en (invited)
- Ascent (closed qualifier)
- SVIFT.NA (closed qualifier)
The top four teams from the open qualifier will join them.
Prize Pool
With sponsorships from marketplace.tf and Cooler Master as well as crowdfunding via Matcherino, the prize pool has risen to over $15,000, one of the biggest prize pools for an international tournament in TF2 history.
The prize pool will be split as follows:
