are u trying to say that being able to chord-masturbate makes u the best? it just makes u more pretentious
nothing about knowledge and experience is pretentious
knowing more and being able to play difficult pieces makes you a much better session musician when you're given some random thing you havent played or heard before
get the fuck off this forum if you think that way
hey, who the fuck do you think you are to tell me to get out from here?
fyi, the biggest part of jazz music is just boring and unremarkable. let me guess why... probably because it has been made by bad musicians

what's funny? you think a good jazz fusion drummer couldnt walk into a studio and lay down a track for whatever shitty pop or rap song they need?
jazz/fusion/classical musicians (anyone who isnt scared to color chords with flat/sharp 7/11/13ths and venture outside of 4/4 really) are by far at the top of the game mentally/dexterously and if you disagree you literally have no fucking idea what you're talking about
do you actually think genre of music determines how much skill it takes you retard

vladdo you actually think genre of music determines how much skill it takes you retard
i've been playing music for over 10 years and i can say with confidence that certain genres are inherently more difficult to play/require more knowledge than others - of course you could write a really avant-garde pop song that is tough to play but you should be able to understand the correlation between genre and difficulty :)
to add to the argument that jazz musicians are great at sessioning is their generally great ability to improvise which is vital in the studio if you really want to make something sound nice and original

That's proly because its a really elitist environment and the standards are astonishingly high. Doesn't mean you can't find the same level of skill in other genres.
That said, genres are just conventions, an attempt at defining whats already been created, it's just a rough guideline. You're mistaken if you think music is about mechanical prowesses or the ruleset you use to compose a piece.

AmarokYou're mistaken if you think music is about mechanical prowesses or the ruleset you use to compose a piece.
i don't know where you're getting the idea that i think music is all about mechanical skill
this whole argument is about session musicians
all im saying is you cant give a country music session musician a jazz fusion or classical piece and expect them to play it well
but turn the situation around and you can
it's literally undeniable, this isnt about some stupid jazz ego that i have jesus christ
and obviously genre is a loose guideline/label for music but you can still use genre to make an argument

bands like breaking benjamin will forever remind me of runescape due to the rsmv trend but it also just fits. Even 10 years later I still think of runescape when I feel nostalgic and listen to some skillet/breaking benjamin/three days grace

hahah, try disrespect the artform of jazz music again and see what fucking happens. i dont normally threaten people but when i see someone disrespect something that requires a level of dexterity and intrinsic skill unfathomable to someone like you it triggers a primal rage within me. perhaps this isnt the forum for philistines such as yourself, in any case, move along, and keep your ignorance to yourself.
