It is a great mouse but it won't last you long.
Within a couple of months it will start randomly freezing.
Apparently the wire is weak and it causes problems.

Just google "g400 mouse freeze" or other such lines to see it is pretty common.

My first mouse broke, they sent me a second for free. After two weeks the second mouse broke. I have been throwing games ever since. You know those moments when its all on you, go hard or go home, time to shine, be a winner! ? That is when it will freeze folks.

Just get 2 of them and youll never be hung out to dry.

my g400 has lasted me since november 2011, and it still works

Also logitech is really good about replacing them.

It's a great mouse. It's one of the few mice that I can't make skip (unless there's dust in the sensor). I also love the grip!

The problem is that I've had the wires on them go out on three different G400s in the past year. I'm getting my fourth G400 soon.

I haven't had it as long as some people here (since November 2012) but it's an excellent mouse; it's not the smallest mouse but it is one of the lightest (at least in comparison to the Zowie EC2 eVo, which is the smallest "fantastic" tier mouse I've found). It seems to work oddly well for my small-ish hands. I tried to get used to the EC2, but in the end I just reverted back because the weight was just so perfect for my Soldier, Sniper, and Scout play. Unfortunately, the price went up to $34 as I checked, but that's still a ridiculously good price. Just make sure you don't have an angle-snapping one. I sincerely doubt that you'll get one at this point, but just look up "logitech g400 angle snapping" and there is an official Logitech forums post about how to find out if you have one. Amazon is great with customer service so as long as you have everything in (you'll probably have to open the box to find out if it has angle snapping), you'll get a refund or a replacement. You could also just try it out and ship it back if it's not to your liking.

Indeed they were really great about replacing it for me. Their support is awesome. The mouse is awesome too (until it breaks).

To prevent the g400 dying you just have to secure the mouse wire somewhere so that you have enough slack to never tug on it when gaming. I've secured mine to the wire router behind my monitor. Also if the g400 happens to die, as tehh4ck3r said, Logitech warranties are god-like.

I have windows 8 and it says it doesn't support win 8. Can I still get it?

i do use a mouse bungie, so maybe that's why i haven't broken it yet

Mouses work natively, so, yes. I just checked and the Logitech mouse configuration software supports Windows 8. The page is probably slightly outdated.
