This is completely anecdotal and not fact checked at all but just looking at logs uploaded by erynn vs faceit games pugchamp gets 2-3x the games in a weekday compared to faceit on a weekday.(NA)
I could make some stuff up about how in pugchamp the game and classes took up most of the screen vs faceit where there a massive chat box and the play button is in the corner, and how crowded the websites feel and how that makes the websites have a different atmosphere and stuff.
The pugchamp website just feels more relaxed than faceit. I'd be curious about how pugchamp's game atmosphere with elo was compared to faceit's. the 5 times i played a faceit but I couldn't relax or enjoy the game, but that might've just been me being low im + elo pressure.
Maybe ladder anxiety plays a role? There's less people queueing in general, not just matches not starting. Actually pugchamp had the thing where you could add up to multiple classes meaning 3 people could look like 15. Maybe that has something to do with lack of queuers. Bandwagon or something
hmm now that i read this it all seems pretty bad and minute and useless oh well lol

i agree with the whole atmosphere of faceit being a lot less friendly and fun as pugchamp, but that is what happens when you have elo and rankings
pugchamp used to have elo and rankings and i remember it was a lot more tryhard

-your intended (or even 2-3 people who were possibilities for) medic pick doesn't "want" to medic, because they either have a huge ego or want to simply have fun. it's fine if players just want to have fun and not play medic, but that's a very big issue with this website, in that it's supposed to be taken seriously, and there's rarely room for "fun" pugs. I'm not saying that's a request of mine, because i prefer tryhard pugs, but there are many players that prefer having the option to play pugs for fun rather than to try as hard as possible to win by mainclassing.

12:22 AM - b4nny | TF2PL.com: or do you just prefer to bitch and complain into the wind
first of all, "invite" pugs are worse quality than 90% of the pugchamp pugs i've ever played, because you have a few high invite players and then you have multiple high IM / low invite players who can only play one class in the game. the quality of invite pugs can also never be top tier, because it's first come first serve, so I don't really see the point in an mm system for invite pugs when there's only 95 invite players in the system, but most importantly out of those 95 people, a lot of them never pug in general, some people aren't always online, etc etc. i've tried organizing invite pugs and every single time they've taken at least 1-2 hour to start, absolutely no exaggeration, and then when they did start, they were very bad quality pugs as mentioned above. also, isn't it extremely telling how pointless an mm system is if you have to ask people to add up. that literally defeats the entire purpose of an mm system. you can think "oh if we get them started, they'll keep going" but that's obviously not the case as a couple reasons mentioned above.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST,
i just want to add up to roamer or demo only without having 3+ players every pug who can only play those classes

i'd like to add that under the assumption it is a tryhard pug where people instalock their mainclasses, when you tell people 10+ seconds in advance to not go for a play and they do anyway (without using their mic either), i can see how that can get pretty annoying to some people

i feel like you actually didn't read either post, because that's not the "oh i just get angry card" but what can be expected from someone who said "the only real toxic ppl in 6s are the few invite players that think they're kings irl for being good at a videogame" when we all know there's only one person in invite with that attribute.
i'd also like to note that you said "you two act like entitled kings in every non-invite pug regardless whether or not your teammates listen" when nobody listens, so that's not really a thing, but in the cases that people do listen, in higher level pgus, i've never seen aim or highfive act like "entitled kings." i'm not sure what this whole "entitled kings" concept comes from, but i've only heard it from permanent low invite players.

have you considered the idea that you might be too sensitive?
who gives a shit if aim or corsa or whoever is bitching at you or being passive aggressive, if that bothers you you should ask yourself why it does. are you upset just because they're being mean (if that's the case then man have i got news for you about the internet), or are you upset because you know you're doing it wrong and you don't like to be reminded of that
i spent literally the entire time i was taking tf2 seriously both pugging and playing in league with people who were better than me and even when they were being dickheads they were still giving useful information. every time i've watched aim stream pugs he's given clear and concise instructions to people who repeatedly ignore him until he starts getting frustrated, AND even after he gets frustrated he is still giving people instruction, just with some extra insults thrown in.

If you read my post you would have known that I said in non-invite pugs. I know you people would be terrified of acting the way you do in B/C level pugs in invite pugs. Only when you people are around non-invite players is when you guys act so disgustingly condescending.
i acknowledged that you said non-invite pugs, but i said "but in the cases" applying to a new situation just as an aside
i most certainly do not pull a different persona in b/c pugs as i do in invite pugs. it's as simple as people not listening. the main thing i do, for example, is calmly say something like "don't die/suicide here, just leave" and then they do it anyway, so I either, again calmly explain why it was a bad idea to die, or if it keeps happening i might ask why that player didn't listen to me a single time.
however, i do understand my voice always makes it sound like i'm pissed off
I'd hate to live a life so disappointing that I'd get off as much as you do from insulting other people's skill level in a video game.
I feel like that's an insult, but i can't really take it as one because i'm pretty satisfied with my real life, and not because of my tf2 accomplishments, as you might suggest, but because of my in real life accomplishments.
there's a right way and a wrong way to do this
you're absolutely right some people are a little overboard with the direct toxicity, but taking me as an exmaple. as i said above, i might give a clear comm by saying "nobody die here, just leave" then a player dies and i calmly explain a concept to someone, and i've legitimately heard open/im players just disagree on the fact that suiciding was a bad idea after i explained, very calm and briefly "you shouldn't die there because then we can't get a force on 2nd either" like i said, perhaps i'm not the best example actually because my voice makes me sound like i'm pissed all the time
Also, if you want to become a good player, there's nothing more true than owl's post, in all honesty. it's a skill to be able to take people's toxic criticism to be helpful, and honestly a pretty useful one in many parts of real life
[quote=maelstrahm]Or you people can act like normal human beings. I've played pugs where you guys just cry about every single thing and get off on feeling superior to others.

corsai'm not sure what this whole "entitled kings" concept comes from, but i've only heard it from permanent low invite players.
Reading this pretentious sentence, coupled with the image of your snarky shithead grin that was probably on your face as you clicked "Submit Post" gives me the idea you were on the receiving end of many "swirlies" in grade school.
