Hey Ya'll, So I currently have att and am paying 60$ a month for only like 12 mbps. Lately, I have been experiencing serious drops in speed and am now looking for a better alternative. Does anyone have an ISP that they would strongly recommend (reliable, fast, cheap). Thanks! ( I am in central California btw)
Research online. You shouldn't simply take one or two people's opinions on a video game forum. Make sure the research you're doing and the feedback your getting are people who use the internet in similar ways as yourself.
And make sure to base the review on a region to region basis for obvious reasons
reliable, fast, cheap
I think you can only choose two

This method works here to in Ontario, see what sorta deal you can get because the last thing they want is to lose you as a customer.

if you're switching isps check around on broadband reports by your local region, cable companies specifically will vary drastically depending on where you're at.
Fios is pretty damn good, but unless your location is good you won't get it. You have to pull strings with customer support to get a cheaper price though, since they generally want to sell the $100 package w/ TV/phone.
for the record, threatening to leave the provider also works wonders with cellphone/tv companies as well

Comcast. It's not that great but it's better than AT&T. My 6mbit line dropped out ~75-100x/day when I had AT&T.
However, Comcast does have mild packet loss every now and again it maybe drops 1 or 2 packets. Still, it sucks when it does happen and your game skips, but it's better than AT&T. For $70/month I get 25mbit download and 4.20mbit upload according to speedtest.net last I checked.
Also, Comcast's tech support sucks dick. Don't call them; they will not help you. Only thing I liked about AT&T was the fact that their tech support was really good; they even put me on my own remote router once at my request (granted, the router was on the west coast and all my pings sucked). Comcast will not do shit for you. Only call them if you want to ubsubscribe/get your line reset (which doesn't require a representative). Their representatives are also mean over the phone.

If you have a choice between DSL or cable just know that cable usually has 20-30ms better latency due to the interleaving required on DSL.
#17 its actually kind of shit since its generalized
#16 is completely dependent on distance to provider

"Good" is a relative thing, Canada literally has the worst and most expensive ISPs in the world. Shaw also has some terrible-ass customer service.
