weird badge issue

on my alt account, the orange box was purchased in january 2008. but, i ended up receiving the mercenary from june 1st 2011.

i don't know how or why this happened, has it happened to anybody else?

i didn't play it in 2008, just purchased it along with half life in the orange box and never played it. i find it odd cause i don't remember even playing tf2 in june 2011. no idea where that date came from.

i think you get the badge when you launch the game, not purchasing it. So maybe you accidentally launched the game in 2011 which gave you that date. i have the same thing on my original account, but i could be wrong.
