If you eat a burger, but you eat all the parts individually, are you eating a burger?

If you buy something for $1 but pay using 4 quarters did you spend $1 or 4 quarters? I think the answer to both of these questions is "both, at the same time".

been thinking about this all morning like at what point does a burger stop being a burger?

whats the ingredients that make it a burger? like you can remove lettuce and it be still a burger, lettuce is obviously optional though unlike a bun or somethijg like that, which i think is really the parts it needs, something in between two buns but are those buns, i.e sesame seed buns limited to only be for burgers? is there nothing else you can do with them other than turn them into burgers? at that point, why are they even referrwd to as buns and not just burger from the get go? would save a lot of confusion at least

now im thinking about assortments where its not a burger which would only be like putting a bun on a face down bun so it makes like a )( shape instead of the traditional () or you could even go )) or (( but neither are even heard about until maybe tonight when im making dinnwr and i sorta figure out somethung kinda ground breaking that changes the way we think about bugers, the staple of western cusine for all days to come i guess?

noun
noun: burger; plural noun: burgers
a flat round cake of minced beef that is fried or grilled and typically served in a bread roll; a hamburger.

well it seems to be defined as a "flat round cake of minced beef ..." and it seems that the bread part is optional.
This observation leads me to deduce The Burger Hypothesis:

A burger stops being a burger when the cake of minced beef has been removed from whatever ensemble that was originally referred to as a "burger".

However, a more interesting question, what type of sauce is catbowcar referring to when he says "fucksauce"? Perhaps he means a real condiment like BBQ sauce. Or perhaps he refers to a culinary sauce like bechamel or hollandaise. Is sauce a deeply abstract metaphor for an idea or entity catbowcar is talking about? Is "fucksauce" its own concrete entity?
Or perhaps there are a class of sauces that constitute as catbowcar sauces.

Is this healthy homemade tomato chilli & prawn sauce a catbowcar sauce?

or fish burgers? ballzy is right on the money with that i was literally gonna say

you can't say they don't exist because its on the menu at McDonalds and very popular with the Muslim community as their beef is not halal and even Sikhs who don't eat beef at all.

just dawned on me that im talking to Americans and i've heard Americans call a burger a 'sandwich' when a sandwich to us is like a burger but they group them together. if its beef in between bread is that a sandwich or is it a burger here in the UK? if i use brioche as buns which is what i normally do when i make a burger is that a sandwich? them whats a burger?

if thats the case then what half of a big mac is the sandwich and what half is the burger?

no its either wholly one or the other or both as in if you go on Youtube and watch the McDonalds American Drive Thru experience a lot of the time they say 'chicken sandwich' but what they get is what we in EU would call a chicken burger, but i guess if we asked an American what a chicken burger was they would still agree with me
