Seinfeldidk how you guys think crossbow makes medic "more fun" when all you hear is "arrow me arrow me arrow me arrow me arrow me arrow me" for 30 minutes
thats certainly better than sitting there and holding m1 for 30 minutes

scout leashing for the speed buff is a way bigger issue than the crossbow. crossbow is overpowered but its not always braindead, if u miss an arrow u fuck over ur team because u also arent healing with the beam, so theres some small risk vs. reward (the reward far outweighs the risk rn tho i admit). scout leashing is braindead and makes the game more stalematey because its so fucking hard to bomb a medic that can surf u rocket into outer space. if u cant kill the med, and the other team cant kill ur med, then teams just wont push until one team accidentally bleeds two players. plus scout leashing makes ubers braindead because u can pop way back behind choke safely, and run a scout in and have more than half ur uber left for the push.
crossbow healing (and dmg tbh) should be nerfed, but scout leash should go first
imo crossbow makes the medic class more dynamic in a similar fashion to ubers. Flashing a significant player at a good time can turn the tide of a team fight. Arrows do this to a lesser extent. People just don't really like when combat classes aren't the reason a player lives or dies for some reason.
Honestly the skill ceiling for arrowing during fights isn't even challenged that heavily, and if it was people would probably just hate arrows more. I distinctly remember scrimming against Nursey like 3 seasons ago and over the course of the night there were 3 or 4 fights we lost exclusively because Nursey shot and hit like 8 arrows in a row on people who were actively engaged in fights. People might get all upset about that, but if our med had ALSO hit 8 arrows the fights may have gone differently.
I personally feel like tf2 really isn't in a position to make the class LESS appealing based on the current number of entry level medics, so the discussion of banning the weapon shouldn't be centered around mechanics but appeal of the class. But that being said, I really feel like arrows could be a lot more powerful if they were used aggressively (aggressively meaning frequently) in some specific of situations.
e: also yeah if needle guns were better that'd be interesting
i feel like the "ban crossbow" threads are made everytime the OP loses some kind of fight cuz the enemy gamer(s) got arrowed
Whenever someone gets arrowed to win a fight I first think it’s annoying but then I realise I’m playing scout so I kind of deserve it
make the medic have to track team mates with the medigun to heal them (cool idea but is actually shit)
removing xbow would nerf the shit out of soldier which is really not necessary
if someone is damaged and has to get bowed then shoot the people who would otherwise be getting tanked because the crossbow can't heal buffs (and a team with buffs vs team without buffs is a huge difference)
it also gives medic solo carry potential which the class desperately needed
it doesn't slow down the game at all, fights actually end even faster because you have to get onto weak teams quickly so they can't heal and in transitions people reach max health faster because of it
also if the person you were fighting got crossbowed, you got outplayed. if you're angry about that, that's like being angry that someone directed you
Nerf the projectile speed of the crossbow. Makes it harder to hit long range arrows on a player actively in an engagement, but keeps it super easy to hit someone out of a fight.
catman1900the real issue is the syringe guns suck horribly and need buffs
To this end, I've recently considered what would happen if Needles functioned similar to Crossbow, where the projectiles heal teammates. It would need number tweaking (similar to tweaking the current numbers of the crossbow), but it would at least give each primary weapon a utility.

2 health per needle? 80 health per clip? That'd be weird if the needle guns could heal like the crossbow.
garbuglioDaffodil-Let me rephrase it then, the crossbow is balancedu have bad opinions on weapons in tf2
daffodil thinks the mantreads are viable
if you think the crossbow made tf2 more fun i have no respect for u
the crossbow is awful balance.
that said fuck balance it makes playing medic way more fun.

I don't think that really fixes the main issue with the crossbow. Losing a fight because someone gets healed 150 across the map is annoying, yeah, and I think at the very least the heal should be nerfed to a flat 75 at all ranges. But the biggest issue is the medic can heal the team up immediately after any engagement. It used to be you could actually push off damage, and health advantage was a big thing. Now it's pretty much irrelevant and stalemate holds have devolved into the attacking team throwing a player/offclass at the other team until they get an important pick.
So basically, ban crossbow.
make syringe guns give teammates slight steriods/ enemies slight nerfs
fae ren baalinst
stock +/-regen
blut +/-lifesteal
ovedose +/-movespd
stackable w/ no cap but it fades starting when you stop shoosting
to prevent multiple clips going wild it's a logarithmic scaling fade until it gets back to 0 (maybe even make it be a detriment if past a certain amount?)
say yes to drog
gonna have to concur with everyone focusing on the scout leash speed being by far the dumbest thing about medic right now
in fact I'd go so far as to say it has surpassed the demo nerf as the worst balance change valve has made in recent years (which is saying a lot coming from me)
in a perfect world syringe guns and the crossbow can live in harmony together
but this is not a perfect world (unfortunately)
Seinfeldidk how you guys think crossbow makes medic "more fun" when all you hear is "arrow me arrow me arrow me arrow me arrow me arrow me" for 30 minutes
And if you miss, "wtf u doing, wtf u doing, wtf u doing" for 30 minutes and never picked on pugs again.
But tbh, what me, as a med who played with needles and crossbow before, like I understand the game changes, new metas come and go, with crossbow sometimes the game is really really fast, u can push faster if u can hit everyone and so on, but the one thing, that bothers me to the bones.. if a player, teammate, is too close to you.. it flies through him, and doesn't heal. So all the time, you need to stand like one m away from him.
can't even remember playing with needles anymore.
If only crossbow-airshots (heals and dmg) would show up in logs

There would be people that farm healing airshots during stalemates.
