Ah yes drive even more good players away from your league
Hes right, the best thing about rgl is that its over faster

There's no way someone unironically thought that crunching numbers like this is meaningful, decided to make this an advert, and then proceeded to butcher the delivery below (the message, you know, the stuff that matters).

guys, remember, sigafoo didn't know that banning pete was gonna be a bad idea for sure so he had to try it to make sure
I understand if you refuse, but I appreciate it if you would remove it for now.

Wait, so you ask him to take it down, and instead of telling him flat out you'll ban him if he doesn't, you instead just say that you'll "UNDERSTAND" if he refuses?
If this isn't a mixed message idk what is

Anyone who thinks it's fun to play against 2 vac medics is in fact wrong and the gamemode isn't nearly mature enough yet nor played seriously enough.
also banning someone for bringing attention to an exploit that has been used by high level players for an extended period of time is stupid, the exploit was used before pete made a guide on how it's done and not many people even knew about it but may have lost rounds because of it. It's fine if the exploit is banned from the league but pete isn't in the wrong for bringing attention to this in the only way that forces valve to actually do something if they don't want everyone to exploit. It's like if intel had the people who released the information on the meltdown and spectre exploits thrown into jail because "now people know they can do it!".
The bug has attention now so maybe it will be fixed, but most likely not since the tf team currently consists of the imagination of desperate tf2 fans. This is just how the game is now.

Imagine if you sent ESEA info on a map exploit, like the grates in Gully back in the day or something, and they were like "Thanks for this and also you're banned for a year"
GetawhaleImagine if you sent ESEA info on a map exploit, like the grates in Gully back in the day or something, and they were like "Thanks for this and also you're banned for a year"
More aptly it's like you post the gully grate glitch on the UGC forums and get banned from ESEA cause you and tri got in a fight on Twitter

im always worried about making my games going faster than UGC plat matches, which usually end because some weeaboo yelled at his teammate and broke his keyboard
also, that gay nerd essay at the end of your stats is retarded. the games are faster because in the first week, no one has figured out shit. once people figure out the most optimal class composition with the most broken weapons, and both teams run it, tf2 will go back to being as slow as it always is
can someone please explain to sigafoo that the "information" he's sending to valve is being put into a big cartoon incinerator
PeteDiscordBut why the ban for sharing public PMs? That makes absolutely no sense, it seems more personal than something regarding RGL.

Should be reduced then, since they realized one of the reasons was a complete farce. If sigafoo listed it just to list it it shows how even worse this system is. Also there's nothing about it in the rules
http://rgl.gg/Public/About/Rules.aspx
Sure there's the non-listed rules, but nothing in the rules say anything about banning something related to this.

Sigafoo didn't even proof read his propaganda tf. It's like he came up with a speech in his head, typed it out and published it without realizing speech and text are completely different mediums.
sigafoo i could use a job, hire me to proofread all of your retarded posts
The Takeaway
There isn't a lot to be garnered from only a single week (and the very first week!) of play, as the format is still in early development and a meta hasn't yet solidified. We can, however, note that this week's stats display that the format is not immediately and obviously broken in practice, contrary to the assertions of our droves of naysayers.
Theorycrafters posited for years that removing all restrictions from the game would lead to slower gameplay, with players grinding themselves into unbreakable stalemates where neither team is having fun. The meta could still develop in that direction, but we believe that such an obviously unbreakable composition of classes and items would have been discovered already.
While many theories having been bandied about, the only common threads between them have been that the game would be a tedious slog. The fact that none of those theories have so far shown results in practice makes us very optimistic for the future of this format!

Questions to "sigafoo" on the "stats infographic" posted above:
What/which was the hypothesis?
What was the conclusion?
What were the sample sizes?
Was a "gullywash" week used in the case of UGC?
How do you define "game being broken"?
How does "average round length" relate to your definition of "game being broken"?
Is it possible that "average round length" in the case of RGL is influenced by the quality of match-ups due to high skill disparity rather than the format?
Who are "theorists" and what was the point in mentioning them?
Is this the format you're going to use when communicating with VALVe?
If not, will you publish what you send?
Will you adopt the "statistical report" format to communicate your statistical study?
Would you be willing to postpone sending to VALVe in order to gather criticism on your work?
Do you understand the implications of claiming data without context as unquestionable truth?
If so, will you refrain from creating more "infographics" without references to more serious analysis?
Are you aware of how important it is to use proper English when communicating statistics?
Will you make sure to proofread in order to avoid errors like "restrictve", "should of"?
Thanks

sigafooSo there's a difference between raising awareness, even giving broad strokes of detail and actually explaining in detail how to do the exploit.
There's a difference between making a post letting people know about the prevalence of a new or existing cheat software and what it can accomplish. Versus making a post laying out in step by step detail of how to install, how to use it, etc....
I know that when I was trying to find out the information on how to do it, so I can send it on to Valve. I spent a moderate amount of time and still was not able to figure it out. And I'm sure others would be in the same boat if he raised awareness, they that they wouldn't be able to cheat despite it becoming more known about.
i know players who have dropped out of high school who have figured out how to do this exploit before pete made it public. this exploit was nothing really new and this excuse for banning pete comes off rather insidious
also, its very easy to spot when people are using this cheat, so maybe try to put more effort into banning the people who use the cheat as opposed to feeling good about yourself for shooting the messenger.
""""""""""""""""""""""real""""""""""""""""""""""""""" competitive league bans pete for bringing awareness to a cheat as opposed to putting in effort to stop cheaters

twiikuuWho are "theorists" and what was the point in mentioning them?
I could be wrong but I think he's talking about 6th place ETF2L prem team THE THEORISTS with the players Aph, Yeehaw, Opti, Leth, Mak and Doughy but I dunno why he's talking about them cuz afaik they haven't been loud in this discussion about meta and gameplay and whatnot

Literally not the same file, that exploit doesn't work on pure 2 to my knowledge.
But also in the last 3 years my opinion on a lot of the scripting that TF2 players use has changed. I'm down to live without vtf crosshairs and the explosion script if it means people aren't cheating
e: but that is kinda hilarious irony huh
e2: read the thread, it isn't blocked by sv_pure 2 properly. It has the exact same bug as when pure 2 "blocks" the spy cheat. So we're at 3+ years of pure being broken at this point.
