Tf2 is crashing every one or two hours and giving me a "low memory error"

I have about 40% ram usage whenever this happens tho

Only programs running are tf2 / steam / spotify / shadowplay

Have you looked at this thread?

A common solution seems to be to turn down graphical settings though I'm assuming you have some sort of config

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\tf\Settings

I don't think messing up with the registry is a good idea try to delete some mods on your custom folder
Or delete the sound.cache in steamapps/commen/team fortress2/tf/sound

It could be video memory (which Shadowplay definitely makes plenty use of), what GPU do you have?
Verify game files

Try deleting everything in your downloads folder besides custom maps. It seemed to help with this specific crash for me (although the game still crashes occasionally with no error, because tf2.)
