Even if it has been years since epsilon was involved in this game, it's still a great bummer. I was always cheering for orgs who once supported tf2 while spectating other esports, and even if I wasn't around when epsilon.tf2 was a thing it's a shame to see the whole org shut down like this. Thanks for everything I guess, your legacy will be remembered!

I think this is really indicative of the current state of esports
with blizzard and epic offering such hefty little prizepools genuine investment (potentially mislead by inflated viewer counts) is kind of starting to clean out grassroots organisations
we kinda saw the start of it when fairly well known orgs were unable to afford positions in the owl and had to let go their rosters & I do think it's only going to get worse. Obviously some of the more well known ones are going to be bought, I'm pretty sure liquid and eg/alliance are both owned by megacorps, but I would frankly expect that a lot of the currently known orgs will fade into obscurity & t2 games or shut down if current trends continue, and that might end up being bad if it all comes tumbling down

yeah the moment i realized this was when i saw some news about US basket clubs buying esport teams, this kind of franchise is what's pushed by the current big names
But, there is still lots of "t2" games around like tf2 with small but old communities around, and now that esports centers flourish in many big cities, it's gonna become easier to host events for those small communities, like what moscow.tf did.

Yeah Epsilon have been pretty shady in CSGO for a few years now. They were also placing incredibly high buyouts for players so if they were ever benched or wanted to leave/a new org wanting to pick them up it would cost a ridiculous amount of money for that to happen.
There's some stuff with smooya and for a quick tldr: he was on 2k a month and was a sole provider for his family as his mum wasn't able to work, he got benched and then put on like 750 or something around that mark.
