We buy it on sales freeze most of it. We leave 1/2 a sick out at a time for soft and the rest of the pack goes in the fridge until needed.

if you can get a proper butter bell then out of the fridge is better. tbh these days i do olive oil spread, out of the fridge, no lid. big fan of the skin that forms on the top. great texture.

I like to leave out bottles of tomato sauce with the lid off (ideally placed in a sunny location such as the kitchen window sill). Eventually the sauce coagulates around the rim forming a delicious tomato chewy; ideal for the kids lunchboxes or when you're on the go and don't have time to carry a bottle of Heinz® ketchup everywhere.

If it's low quality butter fridge it, if it's that babushka cow butter she made especially to smear on a big edge piece of bread, leave it outside as the warm air will activate it's delicious soviet molecules.
