Why have Valve not said anything about this yet? Wouldn't it be in their best interest to advise their players not play the game for the time being?

I was able to screenshot a list of possible consequences to playing tf2 right now. I got this from ONSCREEN.
This leak is just going to test how securely tf2 and steam api is built, especially the item drop system.
It is also worth mentioning that the api got leaked as well and it is now possible to remotely execute code (or malware), both of these threaten your tf2 inventories so set them to private.
