as zigzster said, there's a difference between hitting rockets and hitting high damage rockets. plus, factor in being good at rocket jumps, timing, and shotgun aim to finish kills, and its not completely worth it

Timing is essentially irrelevant or unimportant in either practice mod, rocket jumping isn't something you practice in a DM server, and we've already established that going to practice DM with gunboats is for try-hards or morons.

No my argument is and always has been "you shouldn't use a weapon that makes it impossible for me to practice what I want to practice when an alternative exists." If you want to talk about "real scenarios" so much then I suggest joining a PUG or scrimming with your team since this whole "real scenario" bullshit is entirely contrived to fit your argument as you see fit. There are plenty of scenarios in a "real" game in which you can't or don't want to bomb something as your #1 all-time go-to strategy. If I want to strawman you as bad as you want to do me, why do you think that mid-game rockets are completely unimportant to practice?

Jumping in ammomod was the original MGE try-hard strat. I would tell people not to jump in regs and if they wanted to continue playing like faggots I would just kick them from the server to let others into the arena.

If you're seriously going to mash space in ammomod regs then you're completely defeating the entire purpose of the mod and can just as easily go pub.

if I go pipes-only you'll crush me no matter what I do, so you won't actually practice fighting a demo the way you would in-game (e.g. jumping me)

and yes, idgaf what you say, there's such a thing as sticky aim and some demos are significantly better at it

I don't want to be forced to jump either so how about that? Regardless of what weapon you use you should be able to beat a soldier at mid range considering you're using a faster projectile and have better walk speed. And yes, sticky aim on grounded soldiers is fucking retardedly easy; soldiers walk slightly faster than sentries. For fuck sake you have like a 800 unit radius in which you can literally throw stickies at the center of our model without predicting movement whatsoever and still do 80 damage.

Of course "sticky aim" differs between demos but it's sure as fuck all but irrelevant on grounded soldiers. If bombing is clown shoes difficulty then why the fuck should I be forced to practice that if I don't want to give you kills that are marginally more difficult than killing afk players?

I mean seriously, soldier's walking speed is 3% faster than heavies.

We're not even taking into account the ability of demo to just alter-backstrafe so that he can freely keep distance as well.

Why not just practice the only thing that's even remotely difficult on demo (as far as vs. soldier goes)? Snake and boulder both used to play DM and ammomod for hours never using a single sticky and I never saw either of them complain about it once. The class isn't optimal for direct DM and for some reason this escapes demo players that feel entitled to equal footing in practice mods. We get it, you think aiming stickies is hard. That's why you get 8.

This is the fuckbillionth time we've had this conversation and we've become exceedingly efficient at it.

old SOAP did it best by limiting demos to 2 stickies and having a functional white-list, gunboats are for counter-jumping faggots, stickies are still as comically easy to use as they were in 2008 so I don't see how "sticky aim" ever became a thing, yes demos use stickies in real matches but no this isn't a real match, ammomod is still the best, MGE bred a generation of stat obsessed dipshits that have the most comically bad ground game the community has ever known, and no you can't beat moose in directs. Am I missing something?
