There you have it folks, truly what is plaguing tftv is the inability for people to use racial slurs without consequences.
Personally the only TF2 dream I had was when my friends were about play in some HL finals without me and apparently I was really miffed about it cause my brain created a scenario where I get subbed in last minute and carried the game. So I'd say get friends who are better than you.
Personally, I think that weekly/bi-weekly powerrankings is a bit too much and that would turn them pretty stale pretty fast unless you make them into hot take central. I think some power rankings are still very cool at the beginning of a season, and I have a fair amount of new articles ideas to change things up a bit.
Regarding EU, both me and dempsey do not play at a high level nor have we been around for a really long time, so if you're like some big-brained genius that likes to speak about the tactical aspect of the game or you're an old person looking to reminisce about the good old days, I would be very interested in getting you on board. (also i need more people to do match writeups because I don't do my share.)
Fuck you Elliot I'll call it what I want
10 bucks to play ulti seems way excessive imo. I know I am some poor European but I think that most people won't even play an ulti league/tourney if they have to pay. Second idea is decent, but I'd generally assume that any sort of fee for a gamemode that is not 6v6 will do more harm than good. Maybe try and get some sponsorship, like a trader website, or free DM slots, or signed weapons from Invite players for the top div ?
my aim is so soft uwu
You should probably expect everyone to be much better than you at the start since anyone who plays this game in 2019 has no life. It's fine, we were all there at one point. People above mentioned tf2center, jump maps, DM, MGE, inhouse PUGs and while not every training method is equal, I'd say that when starting out just playing what you find fun is enough. You don't need to force yourself to, say, grind DM for 4 hours a day "because the pro do it" if you don't find some enjoyment out of it yourself. I did that and I learned very little. So yeah, try every class and every gamemode to see what sticks, and basically remember to have fun.
Also I'd recommend watching casted games on tftv or elsewhere. They are (in my opinion) quite fun to watch and you get to see important concepts like holds, sacks, uber advantages... so you get to learn a bit too.
People are already using the report function as a skip button with less votes required, which seems like a flaw to me.
I think it is a fine map tbh, since it was the second season playing it I was not confused by the overall layout. It is still a pretty big map where sniper is good but I see that as a voluntary choice and the only place where sniper was too strong was on the old mid, which is fine now. Second and last are really cool I think, and mid is fine with the changes. Pushing out of last might be the hardest part on this map, since personally the best thing we found was to push through dropdown but that leaves lobby really exposed, and a sniper can cover all of lobby from second as well which is a bit meh. Overall it is a map that I enjoyed playing, and I'd say that pushing into second is its best feature, with all 3 ways offering various strats so don't change that.
As the poster above said, finding a way to make it look more like an article and less like a draft, presentation wise, would be nice but that said I don't have any website in mind so meh.
Onto the main part, I'd like to preface by saying that humor is a highly subjective matter, and that everything I say is my own opinion.
Probably the biggest issue for me is that the article promises something in the title, but fails to deliver on it. It's like there is a missing first paragraph, as the title draws a link between STDs and PUGs, but the article doesn't really explain how this came to be and why, nor who is afflicted or was patient Zero.I'm not saying that you need lore to make a funny thing, but that if you wanna make a satire article, you want your article to look like a real one. This also applies to the formatting of an article, with author, location and date written somewhere near the top.
The second issue for me was smaller, but is important if you wanna make this a regular thing, is that you went for some low-hanging fruits and those can grow old quite fast. The sigafoo quote for example feels really forced by the fact that there is no real reason to interview him compared to the other 2.
I really liked the paragraph after the quotes, and think that this is sort of the level you wanna aim for the start. The botched photoshop was also funny, but opinions may vary.
The idea of a satirical news website regarding comp TF2 is something that has been played with often among the TFTV news department, but we eventually realized that trying to be funny is hard so we just didn't do it. By simply not being funny, you brilliantly worked around something that was holding us back.
Jokes aside, I like the concept but the execution could use some work. If you want feedback I can give you some.
Honeslty I don't even know what sens I use, try randomizing it once with your eyes closed and stick to that
