It's 100kb which for a hitsound is quite big. It's happened to me before that hitsounds don't work when they're too many kb. Perhaps making it a smaller file in audacity or some other program might help?

I think that's a very minor advantage for the grenade launcher, the shorter fuse time has way more benefits in other situations. Especially in combination with rollers not bouncing around
