Well, possimple, I am so glad that you asked. Since I am a giant tiny nerd, I refuse to use anything but the Classic, which in turn makes me feel gimped, useless and—as aformentioned—exceedingly nerdy. This leads me to ponder things like reinstalling TFC, the possible future of the Classic in comp TF2, and what it would take to get it there. Because—if you havent gotten it yet, I am a huge nerd—this has further lead me to concieivng and posting possible Classic changes here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3245759

Somewhere, there must be someone from Valve reading something. On the off chance that something is a TF2 forum and threads about their latest work, I figured maybe it might help.

What do ya think? Feel free to post and bump that thread.

After seeing some more, I think there is a happy medium that should be reached between this update (which is increasingly seeming to be too much of a nerf) and what the demo was before (which obviously doesn't work for Valve, and has it's problems).

Some neat ideas have been suggested in this thread, including but not limited to, tightening the blast radius of stickies, reducing the ramp up time from 2 to 1 seconds, reverting to the old damage and reducing the sticky clip (either to 4 or 6), keeping the current nerf and increasing the pipe launcher clip to 6.

These all seem like better ways of handling a demoman nerf, with the last one being more of a consolation after the fact.

Also, keep it up guys, 6 more posts. We can do it.

I do wish the circle scope wasn't there as it was not in tfc...obviously that would help a lot for what I was doing in the demo, but I don't believe it would make so big a difference for use in a more native TF2 gametype. Really the big problem with the weapon is the low damage which can easily be fixed by rewarding headshots in a better way.

As for NA tfc leagues...I do not know of any.

For the dx8 problem, have you tried using 85? 80 and 81 ate just less secure versions of 85 as far as I know. Unless you mean to say it is broken across all dx8 levels, in which case :(

I used to get a lot of requests asking how TFC sniping was done. I also got some recent requests to show the new Classic rifle in action. After pubbing some I went to see if there was a snipe server where I could test the Classic within it's natural habitat. The following is the result.

After a while they got chapped because they said I was only body-shotting, so I left. Hope that doesn't bore you to tears. All of the old techniques still work, (minus any headshot aiming you might do). Starts slow with only a few plays but then picks up.

It was real cool moment of nostalgia. Hope anyone interested enjoys.

edit: 19 min demo, if you want to skip ahead, things should pick up around the 12 minute mark

I did 234dpm with the Classic in a 1am pug last night. With 3 reconnects because of crashes too. However, my k/d was horrible and I felt like I wasn't doing that great for my team.

There is a lot of cool things you can do with it, but all those things kind of give a "so what" result.

I am very sad.

Platinum is right, ikpure is right, marmaduke is right.

The update to demoman shifted the meta in one foul swoop to go from whose demo can get off their 1k damage on mid, to whose team can put out the most damage in a mid fight that has less dps overall.

A lot of maps just became a lot more playable for scout, and I think medics will feel the difference immediately when mid fights last a good amount longer. I know the stats for mid fight avg length might not be in place but I can guarantee this patch makes pushing chokes on a lot of maps less uber reliant and more skill reliant.

I honestly don't see why youre asking for revert patches. This patch is about as competitive as youre ever going to see. It shifted the focus from spam to aim.

The parachutes are gimmicky and if anyone wants to pubstomp this week just go direct hit soldier and shit on the people floating in mid air.

You guys wonder why this game never gets popular... and then you guys cry about probably one of the most game changing, game reviving patches that this game has ever seen.

Play it out, adjust, and move on. Dota, LoL, SC2, CS, all have balance patches regularly, and the pro players adjust and respect the company's decision. Here a bunch of you just cry like they deleted demo from the game.

Just wanted to quote this because my mane flame over here is 100% right. It is a change to the meta...a change that is bad for individual demo players but pretty good for tf2 in general. After casting Open finals I asked the players what they thought, all responses including that from boulder (the demo) spoke of a resounding balance. Again, really stinks if you are a demo or your team is just star demo heavy.

Great teams will adapt to this and be just as awesome.
