#18 TF2 LAN EVENT IN GERMANY, 25.-27-11.2022 in LAN Discussion
MightyMeDutchies are keen to come!
Is it going to be 6v6 or 9v9?

There will be a 6s tournament for sure. But we are planning to run at least one side competition. At this point it is not decided what that’s gonna be. Could be any competitive mode (2v2, 4v4, 7v7, 9v9).

#3 TF2 LAN EVENT IN GERMANY, 25.-27-11.2022 in LAN Discussion

- Placeholder post for FAQ and Updates -

Are signups open yet? And if yes, where do I sign up?
Yes, they are! You can sign up for the 6v6 tournament on toornament right >>>here <<<.
Singups for Highlander are also open!
https://play.toornament.com/en_GB/tournaments/6136996214205054976/

Will there be a package deal for rooms and tickets / rentals?
No, you have to book them separately. Tickets/rentals + rooms

How long will the early bird rates on tickets be available?
The first 80 tickets are sold for the early bird rate.

How many tickets have been sold already?
Currently 96 players and 9 guests have bought a ticket (currently = 8th nov)

How many rentals are still available?
We have currently sold 80/80 PC rentals and 83/~100 monitor rentals (currently = 8th nov)

What equipment am I expected to bring?
You will have to bring your peripherals, such as mouse, keyboard, headset, mouse pad in any case. An ethernet cable will be provided to you.
If you are not from Germany you may need a power plug adapter since our sockets may be different to those you have at home. You better doublecheck as we will not have any available at the event!

Will I be able to cancel my ticket / rental?
Yes. Best way to do so is to open a ticket in the #support channel in the RCADIA Discord. (You should REALLY join that one)

Will there be ingame medals for participants?
Valve has stopped adding medals to the game. So no. No virtual medals for anyone. Nothing we can do about that...

What is the parking situation like?
There is an underground parking lot available - free of charge!

How do I get to the venue/hotel?
· By Plane! If you want to come by plane, you can fly to Hamburg Airport (HAM). From there it takes approximately 50 minutes to get to the venue. Take S1 train to Blankenese/Wedel (they are all going into the same direction) get out at Berliner Tor. At Berliner Tor and switch to S2/S21 to Bergedorf/Aumühle and get out at Nettelnburg. From there it's a 5 minute walk.

· By Train! If you travel by train you will either arrive at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (Hbf, Central Station) or at Hamburg Harburg. From Hbf take the S2/S21train to Bergedorf/Aumühle and get out at Nettelnburg (20 Minutes). From there it's a 5 minute walk. From Harburg, you can either take the S3 train to Pinneberg, get out at Hbf and proceed from there (+20 mins), or you can take the X30 bus to Bergedorf and get out at Oberer Landweg (Eisenbahnbrücke) (30 min). The bus stops right in front of the Hotel.

· By Car! The RCADIA features a underground car park, where you are able to park for free.

Does the toornament front page show the actual number of registered teams?
Not necessarily. We verify every single team manually before their registration is shown in order to make sure no banned players are rostered. This is done in waves, approx. once a week, as it is rather tedious work.

Will there be a community photo?
Yes. And unlike at past events we will make a serious effort to get every TF2 person captured in the photo. (no h8, hydr8!)
The community photo is likely to be taken in the yard on saturday before the games start (around noon), but be sure to check the announcement on the RCADIA Discord as this plan may change (did I mention you should join that Discord yet?).

#1 TF2 LAN EVENT IN GERMANY, 25.-27-11.2022 in LAN Discussion

Please read the post carefully and note the FAQ below!

Good day, beautiful gamers!

I would like to hereby inform you that the bosses over at the RCADIA in Hamburg, Germany have given their thumbs up for an awesome weekend of TF2 in their venue!

WHEN?
25th - 27th November 2022

WHAT?
A weekend all about TF2. The centerpiece will of course be a BYOC competitive TF2 tournament.
"What makes THIS one so special"? Glad you asked...
This event is also meant to be aimed at a variety of other parts of the community:
Highlander, Casual players, influencers, SFM animators (maybe even cosplayers?) and many more! Anyone who loves this game is welcome!
There will be a stream for you to watch, produced by PhoenixRed with the support of our hosts.

Which brings us to the WHERE?
RCADIA Hamburg, Germany
Oberer Landweg 27 - 29
21033 Hamburg

Never heard about this place? Basically, picture an ideal place to have a LAN, a bootcamp and/or a stream event at.
And the best part? It is also a hotel. More specifically, a hotel which was designed with the gaming community in mind. You will not even have to go outside when time has come to lie down! This place is an all-in-1 kind of deal.
You can choose whether to bring your own PC or rent one from RCADIA. They will have at least 80 machines (possibly more) waiting for you to pick up and play all weekend.

Rentals
Since RCADIA offers everything, tickets and rentals are cheaper than at events like insomnia or Copenhagen Games!
Tickets are now on sale right here!:
- participation tickets: 40 € (early bird rate), 50 € regular
- visitor / spectator tickets: 20 €
- Monitors (fri-sun, 24'', 144 Hz): 20 €
- PCs (fri-sun, cpu i7 10700kF/11700kF | gpu RTX 3060Ti | 16 GB 3200 MHZ ): 40 €

Accommodation
Rooms are also available now, may book yours here or through another website of your choosing. You do not have to stay at the hotel, but we highly recommend it!
Your team may even book a separate room in which you can scrim or hangout bootcamp-style! And do not forget about the streamer booths as well as the gaming area (open for the public every day) which includes PCs, Simulation Racing, VR Tower Tag and an AR Escape Room... everything is ready and waiting for you!

Tournament Registration (6v6)
Tournament signups are open as well! Head over to our toornament page and register your team ASAP!
ETF2L champions and i69 finalists Witness Gaming have already confirmed their attendance. Will you join them and battle for the 1.500 € prize pool?

Singups for Highlander are now also open!

The evening entertainment may start later than scheduled depending on when the games end each day.
The discord will be used for communication during the event, so at least 2 players per team are expected to join it and grab the TF2 role in #rollen anyway!

If you wanna check out the RCADIA already, feel free to browse the website RCADIA.de. Unfortunately a large part of it is in German, but you will get a good idea of what this place offers.

We cannot wait to welcome you all!

#57 Russia Invades Ukraine in World Events
scrambledand that time and place definitely isn't on a forum for a 15 year old video game, where only the most serious discussion takes placeihorI received a summons to the draft board, if I never come back then know that it was fun to play tf2 with all of you for all these many years.
peace to you and your homes.

WW III joke anyone?

#50 Russia Invades Ukraine in World Events
Maki think whats more obscene than making jokes is gesturing as if u rly care and rly want to do something about it and then just changing ur profile pic or making some posts on some forums and calling it a day but u do u

the invasion isnt about u or ur knowledge of russian-american geopolitics. it's - as u pointed out urself - about the ukrainian civilian population's suffering

One can care about it without being able to stop the war themselves.
Making fun about this invasion when you know people are suffering as we speak and especially after some members of our community expressed in this very thread that they have family living in the affected regions, is insanely disrespectful.

Not saying you can never make jokes about serious topics, but there is a time and a place.

irfx
Putin is a megalomaniac who wants to raise his falling ratings (after increase of the retirement age, for example) with some war effort. Some people support this craziness, but those are uneducated brainwashed TV viewers mostly. Any sane person opposes it with passion.

Is this view popular amongst Russians or is it just young folks thinking like this?

#56 RGL Invite Admin vs Perfection? in Off Topic
VirgilNothing i did here has anything to do with me being an rgl admin. Anything with perfection in the future I will sit out of discussions to avoid bias. I was pugging on my own time away from rgl, I think i'm allowed to shit talk if others are shit talking as well.

Unfortunately that is not how it works. Admins, especially those of the major leagues and those dealing with the top levels, have to hold themselves to a higher standart than the average player; even in their "spare time". I have been living with this curse for the better part of the last decade.
The correct response would have been to just walk away / let him talk his shit.

#93 Copenhagen Games 2022: LAN is back! in LAN Discussion

Hello beautiful people!

We sincerely apologize for the radio silence over the last weeks. Let me assure you the minds behind Copenhagen Games 2022 have been very busy behind the scenes!
We are happy to be able to tell you that we have reached a verbal agreement with hardware partners in order to provide enough rentals to accommodate 24 teams total!

The rentals include monitors and PCs!
We do not know the exact specs yet, but monitors should all be 240 Hz (24.5 inch, some a bit smaller) and the majority of PCs will have Intel Core i7-11700F and the others will have i5-8400 or similar. Rental packages will be priced around 200 € (that includes thursday-saturday afternoon, pickups probably possible wednesday evening) with the better specs likely to cost a little more, the others a little less than 200.

Please note that the contracts on the rentals are not signed yet. We are, however, confident that the verbal agreement will be put into a written contract as early as the end of next week. Since there is not a lot of time left until the event we wanted to once again be transparent about things and give you the opportunity to book your tickets if you wish to do so.

LAN tickets will not automatically be linked to your rental reservation. You may book your LAN tickets independently, as we are yet to figure out if rentals will be bookable via the Copenhagen Games website or another service.

As I am writing this we are working on the details for the tournament as well as signups, so expect an update fairly soon.

#90 Copenhagen Games 2022: LAN is back! in LAN Discussion
WylennWhy is this not being decided on now? This is an important decision-maker for my attendance and others as well.
I would really like to know how safe the event will be before committing.

Because we as PhoenixRed are only responsible for the TF2 tournament. Copenhagen Games is hosting the event as a whole and has not announced any details on that matter. They will probably end up going with whatever protocols the Danish government decides on for events like this. It will likely depend on what the COVID situation is in Denmark at that time.
Generally speaking, if you are afraid to contract COVID - which is fair - you should consider not attending an event with potentially hundreds of people in any case.

flick"no rentals confirmed, neither PCs or monitors"
gg wont CU@

Thank you for your feedback!

yak404I assume the problem with rentals is the gpu situation? What about requiring people who want a rental pc to bring their own gpu?

Will forward your suggestion, but not sure how realistic this is.
