#13 Ping Jumpiness? in Off Topic
GuanmorningfoxI don't know why wireless gets so much hate on this forum. Wireless isn't that bad unless you're in a networking environment with tons of other active network devices streaming data to your hub causing interference.Or if you're with Rogers and get their shitty two-in-one router modem and have no option to use your own router.

That is how I got out of TWC's 2 in 1 modem, buy your own

I always here that from people, and honestly, it's not too hard to run a line between the studs and to another floor. Anyways, if it's 30 minutes or more it sounds like a problem with your provider. Does it generally happen during peak internet times?

#54 thanks guys in TF2 General Discussion

I wasn't around last night to actually watch what happened so I can only judge from the threads being made and it's shitty that another playoff game was dos'ed. I see that a lot of people are saying that the game should have been rescheduled, but lets be honest, trying to reschedule playoff matches are very difficult. This is why I never understood why open and IM playoff matches can't be longer. They would still finish way earlier than LAN and if something like this happens the teams would be able to reschedule.

#8 Retro Maps in TF2 General Discussion

This is a lot of players that are still around that started comp with that rotation and while some of them pub well, they were really bad for comp maps. Oh and BTW, if anyone remembers the old school pugs thread, I think I finally found the HDD's. I still have have to buy a sata to ata connector before I can figure out which of the 10 would be the correct one. If anyone wants to bump it with the update, cool, if not I will do it Sunday when I get back.

TWSSLERTake what you want from the video all i know is that we were playing our match fairly we in no point said ok bape ddos time hit blacky we were just focused on the game but knowing this community you guys will nitpick something and blow it out of proportion like everyone does GG.

What happen to grammar? I can care less about the downfrags, but even after 3/4 of a bottle of Vodka, it's still better than these kids.

PS- Please stop the Ddos before you get into a ton of trouble. For example, this kid went to undergrad with me, but now has to spend a few years in prison.

Oh btw ESEA, if you want the whole 5 mins times two, then if the other team doesn't give exactly that amount of time they say it is too many they should get the FFL too. You can't have one with the other. I tried to explain this when that rule came out, but me thread was shit on and deleted so quickly

#180 Wow really? in TF2 General Discussion

I'm sorry but I am starting to feel like this thread is pointless. If someone has proof of what these people are doing, then report then to the correct channels. If they are actually really young, trying to go to their parents will do nothing for a few reasons;

1) Someone already said that they sent something to their parents, or threatened too, and it never went anywhere, so if it's that bad let them deal with fiscal and criminal issues. I know it sucks for those that are involved, but at the same time, I almost feel like this generation is giving people too many chances.

2) Those involved are not quitting, so I guess people should go up a notch.

3) Why is damned comp still cr

Basically, if you want to stop it, just tell your ISP and state/feds and problem will be stopped. Wasn't it like a month ago that another person that was DDOSing got 4 years in federal prison?

MR_SLINyea synchro what you said doesn't make much sense

we just need to establish a culture of teams staying together.

anyways I talked to Alec and he wasn't hit by denial of service attack.
it lasts like 3-5 minutes so if its 30 seconds...just no

Correct me if I am wrong, which I very well could be since I have no clue about how to dos, but wouldn't it be as long as the user (person doing the ddos) would make it?

mustardoverlordmebIt is extremely hard to figure out where a DDoS attack originates from. Most attackers aren't dumb enough to do it with an IP that exposes them in any way. You might even tell your ISP that you suspect someone is DDoSing you and they can investigate it for you.
that's normally true

EXCEPT

bullet ddosed with an ip that exposed him l0l

but apparently im not allowed to post it on tf.tv so whatevs

Wait...If you have true information why not pass it to the ISP?

In no way am I defending anyone here, but a lot of people use openvpn for their VPN services. Again, I am not saying that he isn't using a vpn for the attacks, I just want to make sure people don't go out on a witchhunt for anyone that uses VPN's

#41 sim city 5 in Off Topic

Best Review ever

Fundamentally, SimCity has always been a 'software toy'. That means that there's no real end state, no way to win. It's just a thing that you play and experiment with. You build, and tinker, and mess around. It's a toy, not a game; it's a sandbox, not baseball.

So, in this iteration of the game, you don't even get to buy your toy. Rather, you rent a toy from EA, who lets you play with it only in very limited, circumscribed ways, only on their servers. So you have to have a live Internet connection at all times, and their servers have to be up, and have to have space for you. And the rules for play are draconian. If you want to, say, build a city, save it, blow it up with something terrible, and then restore from save, you can't do that anymore. That's an unauthorized usage of their toy. And if you figure out ways of using their toy that they don't like, they'll ban you forever.

All third-party modding is shut out. One of the best parts of SimCity 4 and The Sims is that users can create and share content among themselves for free. You will no longer be able to do this. You will be required to run only Official Authorized Content.

Further, you're not getting the whole game for your $60 or $80, depending on what version you're buying. EA's plan is to sell you Simcity 5 over and over and over. They've directly admitted that they already have it running with larger cities, but they're not releasing that now. They claim it's because it "won't run on Dad's PC", but the real reason is so they can sell it to you again later. Want subways? That's gonna be $20. Want railroads? Another $20. Bigger cities? Oh, that's in the $30 expansion.

Right now, if you look at The Sims 3, the game costs $30. But if also you buy all the DLC for it, it's *four hundred and seventy dollars*. This is what they are doing with SimCity 5; locking you into their server infrastructure, and then exploiting the heck out of your wallet.

This is a lousy deal, and you would be stupid to take it. Always-on DRM, and a deliberately crippled game, so that they can slowly uncripple it, charging you for every restored feature from prior versions.

Simcity 4 still works pretty well. It's not quite as nice as most current games, and can require you to 'pin' the process to just one processor on a multi-core system (ie, most current machines), but if you want a city builder where you won't have to pay extra to breathe both in AND out, that would be a better option.

But buying this game? In my opinion, you would be wiser to take three twenties out of your wallet, and light them on fire.

And PS, go to amazon and click on the 5-star reviews, great trolling
