clckwrkHildrethI don't want to donate as Epsilon are no longer going to play TF2 afterwards, and don't seem to be putting much effort into the future. Not sort of team I'd want to support, I would rather support someone like Full Tilt or TLR who regularly practise and show some interest in the game's future.
For that reason I won't donate, but I wish you good luck with your fundraiser and hope you have a good LAN, it's great to see some of the best players in the game at an event like Dreamhack, so people should donate if they want to see amazing games, but I am thinking next generation.
To be fair, I think donations towards a team like Epsilon shouldn't hinge on their future in the game. Even if unofficial, TF2 at Dreamhack is a pretty big deal, especially for those who are still trying to nurture growth in the competitive scene. It shouldn't matter if numlocked doesn't play etf2l next season, or if the team as a whole is simply playing to kill time in the absence of Overwatch; the real reason you want them there is to bolster viewership for the event. And if I'm being honest, Epsilon and Reason are the lynchpins for the event. You want the best competition possible to be there and feel secure in their choice to even attend.
Epsilon has the clout to not only keep the attention of experienced players, who want to see Mike not miss a rocket for the entire round, but the play-makers, who impress potential new viewers. If you're thinking about donating to Epsilon, you should think about it as donating to TF2, because the event is more than just "another tournament." It's big, and you want to gain as much hype as possible and ride the wave through matchmaking and onto further tournaments. So, again, I don't really think numlocked potentially not playing etf2l next season should ever be a reason to not donate.
I respect this point of view, but it is a big enough reason for me, if the best team in TF2 doesn't even want to keep playing and ditches the game after one of the best TF2 events, it's quite sad for me. Still I am glad they will be there, it will be a sick tournament, if it's successful I hope the legacy of Epsilon TF2 will spread to the next generation who turn up in 2016.
I was hoping I could goad Numlocked into practising though. ;)
Also Masternoob deserves props for stepping in.

can a perk be post-game interview?
lol_goatShe and hildreth were just fighting about something or other.
I dunno what happened?
I said something about Pyro being an easy class to play, and apparently I knew that she is a Pyro main even though I am watching her stream for the first time? Also I asked if she played UGC HL, and it was interpreted as an attack on her skill level, as if I haven't spent years playing UGC HL?
All really dumb and not worth anybodies time, please minus frag. I guess I just rub people up the wrong way?
She is actually pretty cool, respect Grandmother, gives me hope I can game into my old age.
TF2C can do what they want, since it's their website?
But tbh I am bored of defending them, I gave them advice on how not to behave and what not to do if they want to improve their relationship with this community and MN just tells me "to go to bed", so they have zero interest in whether or not they are liked, so it shouldn't surprise you if they continue to make poor PR choices. For the record they probably have a good reason to ban that guy, looks like an idiot trolling. It's if they ban people like me for criticizing them, that is where shit gets bad.
Lunacidesquid_squad_boy_60-nine if they don't control classes in 6s you would have the 1 demo 1 heavy 1 engi 1spy 1 sniper 1 scout teams which would also not be fine.
why would that not be fine? people will eventually realize why cookie cutter classes are run and will play them if they want to win
Except they limit Scout and Soldier to 1, then 6v6 becomes about having a Heavy, or a Sniper? Or an Engineer when being defensive?
Or they allow more unlocks and we see Mini sentries in 6v6 again, or every classlimit is 2 so we see double heavy hold strats on last?
This community has balanced the game to our own tastes, but also taken restrictive measures in an attempt to keep it fast paced and skillful as possible. Why do you think you think we've made every classlimit 1 except for Scout/Solly? Cos they are the classes with highest skill ceiling/capabilities, aside from Demoman/Medic which are even more powerful. Highlander is an attempt to wheel in those who enjoy Payload and Pyro, get them to learn competitive and switch over to 6v6, the format's existence was nothing more than to help 6v6 grow, but some people actually prefer the format and stick to it (I am bi-partison for the record).
In the end we're just a bunch of gamers trying to create a fun, fast paced competitive game to enjoy in a video game that can be re-designed casually in a 100 different ways.
squid_squad_boy_60-nineHow will tf.tv react to matchmacking? We have to ensure that matchmaking, does not diverge players from tf2. If matchmaking comes out it doesn't mean tf2 comp is saved. First of all it might be only highlander? Will 6s players still stick to 6s and split the community? Will both happen? Will highlander matchmaking eventually lead to players trying 6s and everything will be ok?
Matchmaking won't be Highlander, to be honest I don't know if it will even be 6's. Either way it depends on the leagues, lets say they make matchmaking 6's only and ETF2L stops running Highlander tournaments, current players will either stop playing or go to UGC (I think I'd rather stop than go to UGC). So community will probably decrease in size unless there is active effort put in to keep it going.
Say it isn't 6's but some hybrid, same logic applies but to ESEA/ETF2L/UGC running their 6's leagues, will they continue the competition or switch formats? So then if there is no formal competition in the 6v6 format, most teams will die, or go somewhere it's offered and continue in a marginalized fashion. Ultimately whatever format is used, it is down to the leagues to be prepared and ready to make the change, and make the big decisions that will drive the community. We come here to watch TF2, you go the leagues to play it.
MGEMikeMarterthantheaveragebearSideshowI wanna go to the next one, looked like loads of fun!

Epsilon at GXL 2016 confirmed, Sideshow the new roamer.
LAN looks great, and to think a few years ago people were saying it wasn't possible to get so much of the NA community together,
My porn fantasy comes alive
clckwrkIt's not comparable. We don't really have the top 4 teams here, but I agree there should be more coverage. But to think it's the equivalent of a LAN between reason full tilt epsitlrlego is just misunderstanding the situation
Well that's the thing, when you see the names "Ascent", "Froyotech", "TSU" etc, you think it's their best teams, but there is no way to know beforehand until you actually tune in.
Any chance of a roster run down?
I echo the European contigent, you guys have this sick LAN event with what appears to involve a bunch of the best NA teams and there is no hype, no article previews, no videos, no rosters or anything. Disappointing build up, this tournament looks sexy and from what I have seen the coverage on stream has been great. In EU, if we had our top 4 Prem teams at a LAN event, we'd be going wild.
mthank you for taking time out of your busy day to redirect us to incredibly shitty content that will benefit nobody
For you anything
