#154 We need to talk about the booties in TF2 General Discussion
JaguarFiendA very slight nerf could be making the speed bonus apply only when melee is out. This would make the player have to be a bit busier with weapon switches to utilize the speed if they weren't using the booties to be a demoknight. In many ways though it wouldn't change much during non-fighting moments and would be like counterstrike (run faster with knife out).

I actually remember b4nny talking during a stream one time about how a possible change would be to have the speed boost apply when you have a shield equipped, since the booties were originally meant for full demoknights without a primary weapon. But slin did make an excellent point

MR_SLINif you believe something is broken, abuse it until a change is made.

The same can (sort of) be said by the old loose cannon. People would use it so much that eventually valve realized "hey, this weapon is seeing as much if not more effective use than other weapons, so we should look into rebalancing it."

The only map (that I can think of) where you're not doing much for yourself and your team if you don't run booties is granary tbh. I really enjoy how the booties add another dimension to the class rather than keeping demo within certain boundaries that, heaven forbid, you even think about stepping outside of.

shorasBooties are still less aids than Quickiebomb.

I'm actually surprised I haven't seen more (top) NA demos use the quickiebomb launcher. Yeah it can make a demo a fragging class when combined with the booties, but in the end it's how your team plays.

Max_I'm personally not a fan of them but if I need to run them for the sake of my team or I feel I'm not doing anything with pipes I'll use them

Maybe one day a team will try and rise to the top with a quickiebomb/booties hyper agro demo and passive pocket soldier or something else, but in the current state of team play, the booties are a nice upside to compliment a team that plays aggressively, giving them a safety net in case things go wrong. But they are not OP. If they get banned next season, people will work around it similarly to when the old loose cannon was banned. But I still think that the verdict stands with the booties not being OP.

#2 Crosshair switcher/viewmodels in Customization

I actually made an identical cfg file called soldieroriginal with the rocket launcher viewmodel on and I bound 0 to "exec soldieroriginal.cfg" and in my soldieroriginal config file I have 0 bound to "exec soldier.cfg", creating a toggle between the 2 scripts. But from the top of my head, you can't really create a toggle for just one slot without a whole lot of coding that I don't know how to do really.

Also, why do you have your interp change when you switch weapons? If I remember correctly you can't change it when you're in an online game, so having it change is pointless. I may be wrong, but that's from my experience

#8 No hats = No skill? in The Dumpster

Remember that this is the business model that valve has set up. Where the bare minimum is just fine and will work, but they want you to invest money into their product. The thing is, people spending money on this game has become such a standard thing to the point that if you don't have at least some hats (even a gibus and pyrovision), you stand out like a sore thumb. Although I do hate the common association that hats/expensive items = skill within a large portion of the tf2 community.

#10 Medic viewmodels in Customization

This is a little bit of a different take on your question, but basically what this script does is show your medi gun when you get it out, and on click, changes the viewmodel fov to 0

viewmodel_fov 130
alias primary "slot1;r_drawviewmodel 1; viewmodel_fov 130; bind "MOUSE1" "+basicattack""
alias secondary "slot2;r_drawviewmodel 1; bind "MOUSE1" "+heal""
alias melee "slot3;r_drawviewmodel; viewmodel_fov 130; bind "MOUSE1" "+basicattack""

alias "+heal" "+attack; viewmodel_fov 0"
alias "-heal" "-attack"
alias "+basicattack" "+attack; viewmodel_fov 130"
alias "-basicattack" "-attack"

it's pretty self explanatory when you look at it, but it's got a bit of an extra touch to it. There may be some extra unnecessary code, but that should get the job done. The only problem that you may have is that if you use your scroll wheel for cycling through weapons, it breaks the basic aliases. So binding your stuff to absolute functions (such as mouse down being secondary, mouse up primary, and mouse3 being melee for example) is probably better for this specific script. It's how my scripts are set up and it works for me.

Hope this is helpful!!

#16 Can't figure out how to play Demo effectively in Q/A Help

One thing that I found that helped me was the mentality of all of it. This may be just for me but I've noticed that when I'm tense and in this mental mode that I can't really describe (you know you're there when you're there) but make sure you're relaxed in things like fights and such. It's an intense game(mode), but that doesn't mean you need to be tense as well. It took me a long time to overcome that mentality but when you're do, things start to get better. Again, this is my personal experience and you might have something different, but that's what I've learned in my experience

#27 Confirmed MM Hackers in TF2 General Discussion
strazyyyKonceptLegacysyncVAC is gonna take care of most of these so why do you care?Vac =/= esea anti cheat client unfortunately

The only real reason I care is that people that hack are the scum of this game. Even worse than the trader mains that think they're pro because they play on all crit low gravity servers and can do well against people worse than them

isn't esea client on tf2 complete garbage and the only convicted cheaters are the ones by manual review (screenshots)?

I wouldn't know. I've never seen someone with the client in tf2 even attempt to hack
