i like what Tob said, its very progressive and it almost brings out a whole new meta to comp play. this might still further a bit of stalemating though because teams would be in situations where they are holding and say "okay i know the new flank is going to open soon, lets just wait for that". still, its an outside the box idea and would be cool even if just one or two new maps had an idea like that. we are working with a game thats nearly a decade old and the community isnt getting much bigger, so we have to explore wacky new ideas like this if we want to give the game any kind of fight to survive. im sure there is a better way to make Tob's idea actualized.

hooli also brings up a good point, and it wouldnt require much to change. it might be worth trying due to its relative simplicity compared to the other ideas posted so far.

i think 5cp is fine and people are just really hesitant to push. watching higher levels of play is exciting because you see people are always on the move, players understand where they should be and push with syncopation. its something newer/lower skilled players need to figure out, i would see soooo many people just walking back and forth unsure of what to do. when you get a single pick advantage you need to capitalize on that immediately, people respawn in what, ~10 seconds or so? you sitting there going "what do i do" hitting W S W S W S W S greatly wastes that advantage, and usually by the time people get their arses moving, the advantage is gone and the other team has almost completely reset. the gamemode is fine, its a player issue.

mannn i know you dont want death. nobody wants to die. dying is the worst result you can achieve and the entire point of existence is survival, aka avoiding death. there might be some circumstances going on that make it seem like dying is the easiest way to cope, but dying is not going to solve anything. even if you could hit that 'off' button, you cant ever turn it back on once you realize "oh shit... maybe i shouldnt have done that".

^ i didnt make the thread for people to pat themselves on the back about being sad. it didnt have to be anything sad at all, i guess there are just a lot of people here who feel similarly. i made the thread so people can give advice and encourage others and try to be helpful toward one another. i completely agree with you about people needing to be proactive about bettering their lives, but everyone starts somewhere, right? opening up and admitting your feelings is the first step. would you go to the gym and yell at a fat guy for trying to exercise? i know youre just trying to help too, deep down, but the way you worded it is kind of condescending.

coaching teams is pretty ass cancer imo. i helped out one of the newbie mixes, i support that whole idea but me personally, i couldnt really stand it. it takes a special kind of person to be able to step up and coach, i dont think its easy to come by people who can A) stand it and B) do it effectively. also, i dont really think coaches are that important. yeah they get things going but we never had coaches years ago, sure you might ask a higher level player to give you pointers, review a demo with your team, maybe mentor a little, but the idea of coaches kind of paints the picture of babying people into the game, and who is to say that what the coaches are telling you is right? if youre gonna have people coach, youd need them to be reputable, and i think that reputable players in this community are scarce atm, and they probably have better things to do. not trying to knock newbie mixes, as i said i think the idea is really good. but coaching, idk... i think having newbie scrims frequently would be better for people learning the ropes. who cares if there is a coach to sit there in spec and facepalm, or ghost for the team, or give bad advice? players are gonna figure it out on their own eventually, they might even come up with something new.
