#33 When is it time to quit? in Q/A Help

If you can't figure out for yourself that you cut bad influences, then you don't have what it takes to be a team leader and you probably shouldn't be. This did not need its own thread. Talk to each of your other teammates in a 1on1 steam chat. Ask them what they think of the person you want to cut. Ask them what they think of your leadership. If two or more of the four people think this guy isn't the problem, it might be time to step down and join another team. Alternatively, cut everyone who doesn't get along with you every season and hope that you eventually get a good team (spoiler alert: don't.).

This thread is the absolute worst way to handle this issue.

#70 Worst Movies Ever in TF2 General Discussion
fieldsblueberrymuffinfieldsits ok if you -frag me for saying forrest gump but im yet to hear why its anything but an overrated piece of garbage
I doubt that it's the worst movie you've ever seen and we have yet to hear why you think a movie that won 6 Oscars and nominated for 7 more is an overrated piece of garbage
the academy awards have proven numerous times that their judgement of films is completely arbitrary.

You're clearly in the minority here. If you want us to not think you're just an ignorant idiot, explain what's wrong with it. We don't need to prove anything here.

#47 Worst Movies Ever in TF2 General Discussion

Worst movies I've seen recently:
Olympus has fallen: almost comically inaccurate and stupid. Every couple seconds they did something that made no sense.

Show Content
President: Let's bring all the Koreans into my saferoom
Secret Security: No way sir, that endangers your entire cabinet.
President: Do it.
Secret Security: K.

Iron Sky: This movie is actually hilariously bad like The Room (not quite as bad as the room, but still really bad). They parodied that old Hitler meme where he kicks everyone out and yells at his advisors and stuff.

#6 Emotional Experiences in Off Topic
Toastrz97Personally, I just got off of the most emotional phone call with my best friend, and ended up saving her life. That lead me to wonder what this communities' most emotional experiences have been in life. The experience could be depressing, inspiring, heroic,or whatever.

Share away!

My most emotional experience is being on the other side of the conversation you just had.

#38 ESEA-Invite: HRG vs. tri Hards in Events

5-4 TriHards. I want to believe. We don't want this to turn into the Euro scene where a single team dominates for multiple seasons without dropping any matches.

#101 Comp.tf - A competitive tf2 wiki? in Projects
KanecoRJOn a separate note, is anyone against my previous suggestion of adding POVs, Commentaries, Guides, etc. into each class and/or map page?

ie adding PYYYOUR's medic commentaries for the medic page, Ruwin's Demo Reviews from his recent streams, etc.

Maybe even some amazing games played and casted from some LANs -- I'm thinking something along the lines of the older Mix^ vs. bp games, one of the being on badlands, iirc.
Speaking personally, not at all, as I said that would help everyone, even me, if I was looking for a specific class guide let's say for Highlander Medic, I go to the specific page, and there's a list of povs of that class being played at a high level, list of demo reviews of that role being played, etc etc... It just needs to be well cataloged and have a nice template on the page.

I agree, this sounds like an excellent way to keep the writing itself brief and still comprehensively cover all important aspects of each class.

This guy has been adding junk all over the main page. Can we somehow ban people from editing?

#75 Comp.tf - A competitive tf2 wiki? in Projects

I understand ordering classes the way they are in game, but the "offensive", "defensive", and "support" groups are really inaccurate in comp and can be misleading. Should we keep the order and just remove those headers, or maybe reorder everything with our own groups (Picking classes, Support classes, and priority/big-damage/whatever you want to call the soldier/demo/heavy/medic?), or are Valve's groups fine and I'm the only one that's bothered by it?

#7 weapon ban pugs and info for valve? in TF2 General Discussion

This right here is the problem. Everyone thought we were doing this to tell them what weapons need reworks.

All they wanted was for us to experiment with different systems for banning weapons so they could implement a lobby system with picks/bans. Unfortunately, no PUG groups that I'm aware of actually tried realistic systems like one ban per player (the one I played in had like 2-6 bans per team which made no sense to me at all), let alone give feedback to valve.

HallowKoobadoobsCondescendingCandlestickHave conservatives ever heard of SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE?"Where does the Constitution say that that exists?" -conservatives who disagree with gay marriage

Separation of Church and State would be great, but TBH that's 100% impossible. Where do you draw the line? If I start a religion where my God tells me I must kill a non-believer every day, and the state can't interfere in my beliefs, what's stopping me from murdering people every day? Their religion says that the punishment for murder is death, and it also demands the same punishment for homosexuality. To them, it's like legalizing a crime as bad as murder, and to overturn DOMA is to force our religion on them.

It's not about the State having power over a religion, it's about a religion governing the laws of a country. In a country with freedom of religion the Bible is never a legitimate argument, that's the point.

And my point is that those who disagree with you on gay marriage will also disagree with what you just said. They don't think there's any reason why the one set of laws that the divine creator sent them shouldn't be a basis for our laws. They believe that if we can tell our children to say "One Nation Under God," and pay debts with currency stating "In God We Trust," then surely our laws should fall under God's wishes, and we should trust his judgement. To them, this is a disease that must be eradicated. It goes deeper than the Bible. It has been so ingrained in them that they don't think of it as a belief. It's, to them, a pure fact that this disorder is evil and should be cured, not encouraged. It's a matter of being uneducated, and from lack of awareness they get their answer from the teacher they trust most. And though they don't think everyone must believe in their God, they think they're doing us a favor by saving us from this homosexual disease. You cannot change the law by telling them to ignore their beliefs. They'd think of themselves as a martyr if we scolded them for trying to ban gay marriage. You have to accept that although I agree that it would be nice for religion to be irrelevant, the group whose minds you actually want to change will not sacrifice their beliefs to honor the beliefs of the people they call sinners and demons.

BenroadsKoobadoobsKhakiesports aren't popular because video games aren't respected in the general public as a form of competition between adults; they're still viewed as kids stuff

how is this not obvious
That doesn't mean there's no room to grow for us. 90% of TF2 players don't play comp and don't watch it. 99% of people who respect eSports don't watch TF2 comp. We can do better, and we aren't an inherently worse game than LoL or DOTA. Of all the eSports out there, it should probably be easiest for us because of the emphasis on team play in TF2. While games like CS and CoD are about single players hitting heads, TF2 opens up a realm of potential narrative for teams because it's the collective team that matters, and at the same time star players can stand out.

Have you watched much CS? The game is very team oriented, that being said there are tons of "clutch" moments in that game but the same can be said about TF2 when someone goes nuts and gets a 4-5-6k ect ect

No, I don't watch CS, because I don't know the players, and I don't care about them enough to learn the metagame. :/ That's exactly the problem I think we can fix. Maybe they can do it too, but my point is that there's no reason to stop trying to grow TF2. It does have the potential to get tens of thousands of viewers, or more.
