ILLEGALELEPHANTGUNi noticed you can pretty much bhop in this game and its very easy to do. you want to be holding W though, contrary to Source engine where you are not supposed to press W. you still do everything else the same, such as A/D and mouse turns. its not super noticeable, and the turning is clunky and you get stuck on corners pretty easily, but on long straight aways, open areas, or downhill slopes, its definitely an advantage.
you can also do a slide, im pretty sure. if you were to gain some momentum "bhopping" and then land in a crouch, it does seem to carry over momentum and give you a small slide. i havent thought of it being very useful so far until i figure out more about it.
You actually shouldn't be pressing A or D while bhopping. All you need to do is hold W and figure out the rhythm to slide hopping. Once you can get crazy speed going in a straight line with W + slide hopping, you start incorporating mouse movement. There's a certain timing window to where you move your mouse in the direction you want to go. Once you figure out the timing, you can keep all of your momentum and kind of drift around corners.
W + A/D is useful for starting out your jumps though. W + A/D is faster then just holding W, so use that speed for your first jump, then just hold W and use your mouse to direct your movement.
It's been a long time since I've played a game with genuinely unique movement and holy fuck is it fun when you really get the hang of it.
