#240 Fat shaming in Off Topic

From 17-19 I lived in the house of a native chief. One night over a beer I found out he really disliked gay people so I gave him some harsh words, and really didn't concern myself with tact being a little more foolhardy back then. His wife later took me aside to kindly explain why her otherwise wonderful husband felt the way he did so strongly. Turns out he went to residential school, and at night his friends were taken just outside the room, and molested by priests. Even though it never happened to him, he could hear the whole damn thing. He still hired gay people because he knew it was wrong not to, but he could never kill the connection he drew between child molestation, and your average fun loving gay dude.

That whole scene made me realixe it's not the feelings of someone that matter, but their actions. He was doing the best he could to treat everyone equally in spite of one SERIOUS MUTHAFUCKIN disagreement with it, for reasons I can't even imagine.

#29 B4nny in TF2 General Discussion

I used to play with b4nny years ago, and it was totally fucking obvious from day one that the guy was utter shit and always would be. No idea how to play, never improved, and cluttered coms with dumb shit like "I killed 4 of them with a blind det. *mario laugh* We should push." OK, smart guy... Nice right click. He finally started doing alright once he got Tyrone to carry his ass. Now it's poor Lansky. Ty, and mackey both had to step back from TF2 due to heinous back problems from hoisting b4nny around all the time. Be careful young lansky, for Grant will use up your body until you are nothing but a dried out husk of a man with nothing but a job and social life.

You fucking suck Grant, and you would help pay for Ty's physio if you had a soul.

Love,
Oaf.

#10 I49 VTV Constructive Criticism in TF2 General Discussion

Beta's mic was hellishly distorted for the bit I watched. I will never understand how this slips past broadcasters so often/for so long. So much effort put into video production, and the audio ends up sort of ignored.

#8 What makes a good 5cp map? in TF2 General Discussion

The main things about process and blands that are different imo is that there is no point where a demo/combo can watch all the entrances effectively, and the roll-outs are the best. The combo can only spam a couple places at a time, and can't necessarily see everything, much less put heals on those defending the other entrance right away. What this means is that the flanks become more vulnerable, leading to more frequent picks, and health/positional advantages through bullying. Both blands, and process are fairly open, as in NOT INDOORS until around last point. Sure, there are buildings, but you can bomb through chokes or approach through areas without such clear sightlines. Metalworks has a skybox high flank that you can bomb from. Granary, and gully have small spammy doors of death as the only options.

Roll-outs that involve some modicum of skill, ramp slides, skip jumps, etc. seem to be the most enjoyable, and memorable. Traversing more than just flat terrain, basically.

Areas that you can bomb around in, or have some fun with scout movement are great. blands mid/2nd (tons of ledges, and platforms for scouts), process mid/2nd, granary middle (for soldiers in particular).

#34 Summer Shades in Off Topic
JustifyedAnyway to still get summer shades without paying for them? I really want them and do not want to pay unless I have to.

rly want your essential accessories, but don't want to pay for them with my hoarded metal or other items. I really like shiny metal. Don't know what to do. Everything so hard.

vanilla(Also, that is a dope banjo).

1925 Weymann tenor style 135. Found it for $50. Thought it was worth the price for the ebony fingerboard, and flame maple resonator. She sounds fucking great!

Last time I tried to go to the creek I was stopped 1/2 way through Utah by a blizzard, and bailed to Arizona. It's going to happen sooner or later, though....

#1136 THE GREAT TF.TV CHALLENGE in Off Topic

Mostly sport. The trad is scary as the rock is kind of chossy, established cracks seldom get climbed so they remain loose, and ground up trad often consists of tossing loose rocks away from your belayer for 1/2 an hour at a time. It's hard to find willing partners, but there's lots of potential for trad. It makes me sad face, as crack is where my heart is.

Mt. Maxwell, Salt Spring Island.

Not the best rock (conglomerate) but the setting is stellar, and it's basically right outside my door. Being not the most traveled area, there's a TON of new route potential everywhere. Lots of adventure if not a lot of partners.

#30 qf is just a scapegoat in TF2 General Discussion

I've never been a fan of Gully and catch shit for it, but I was riveted during the 1-0 i46 match along with the other low scoring examples. I fucking love this game! During this lan however, I turned on the CS streams because I was that bored.

Med positioning isn't as important (easy escapes), forcing uber is harder, build is faster, the window for pushing with advantage is smaller, demos often play more passive. All of these things point towards a game with more static hold time, and less risk.

QF is quite strong on roll-out, so most teams will run it most of the time. Due to this, I think this weekend saw more fairly definitive mid wins end up with an immediate 'stalemate' instead of capping point 2 thanks to the faster build and travel time of QF.

While QF pushes are fucking wild and meds get to show off some airstrafing skills it feels like the uber advantages mean a little less, so pushes were less frequent making the games sometimes feel slower. Perhaps super aggro strats will develop to crush the flank with flying medics, but right now that doesn't seem to be the case.

A vote would be good and keeping with ESEA policy. Let those most devoted to the game decide it. At least keep the option open for the off season to see where the strats lead.

darn, darn, darn, darn, darn, darn, mesr, ggglygy, mirelin, and MACKEY.

While there are unquestionably more dominant players, these have ENTERTAINED me.
