woodyOldies: Is anyone from the old guard still around? I used to play with a bunch of incredible folks and am wondering if any familiar faces are still kicking around.
BeaVerN, AMS, Schocky, Silentes and others who have played at that time but weren't prem yet.
woodyNew Maps: Back in the day, I played Badlands, Granary, Gullywash, Metalworks, Process, Snakewater, and Sunshine. Have any new maps emerged that I should be aware of?
except for badlands all of those maps are played including product (this map was around in 2014-2015 as well)

woodyPickup Games: I always enjoyed the old pickup2 IRC system for organizing games. Is there an equivalent where I can jump into a decent pickup game without much fuss? Lobbies just aren't the same.

woodyMeta: Have there been any significant shifts I need to know about to avoid being completely out of the loop? When I played, the only unlocks that were really used were for the medic.
Medics run as fast as scouts when healing them so the game is a lot more scout centric and soldiers mainly bomb/flank/hold chokes instead of relying heavily on heals and ubers.
There weren't a lot of unlocks added since 2015 that have made much of a difference but if you only remember the medic ones then soldier got gunboats, 2 banners and the escape plan, scout got winger (makes you jump higher when equiped) and boston basher and those are the notable ones.

twiikuuSomewhere in the thread, I've seen someone mention that they didn't want killstreaks to be recorded, you can put `ds_min_streak 999` in your config.
I don't think the problem is the recording of killstreaks, but recording them in pregame or casual.

One thing that I always liked about p-rec is the ability the customize your bookmark.
any text you add after your bookmark bind will be shown in the killstreaks.txt file, so if I use this bind: bind "alt" "prec_mark Soldier" in my soldier.cfg, in the killstreaks.txt file it will be shown as

So it's easy to go through your demos if you look for specific classes for example.
If you haven't tried yet, open a local server without Lawena while the custom animations are loaded and try to minimize your viewmodel there.
If it doesn't work it's not an issue with Lawena but the animations themselves (maybe you can't even use minimized viewmodels with custom animations, I never tried)

i have great news to share with you:
- i have signed up a contract with BaseStack for this event, so you can book your flights/sleeping spots!
- we are going to be able to cover 16 teams, not 15
however 9 gaming stations will be downstairs due to lack of space in the venue, they will be in an open space instead of a closed rooms and the desks will have more space than in the rooms
the venue has 95 PCs with 95 FHD 240 Hz screens and 1 FHD 144 Hz screen, meaning there will be one PC missing and we will have to rent the PC ourselves from some 3rd party or one of the participants can bring their own PC to fill the hole
- signups will open this Wednesday (29.11.2023) at 7:30 CET, i will post a signup page link on our Discord: https://discord.poland.tf
for spectators entry fee for the whole weekend is 10 PLN where one drink is provided within the fee
for players the only form of signup is the team signup, where one adult player fee is 300 PLN and 220 PLN for a minor, meaning in 99% of cases you will have to pay 1800 PLN for your team upfront (captain pays for all players in the team)
all participants must fill a form which you can get after creating a ticket on our Discord where you must provide a proof of payment towards BaseStack
signup order for teams matters, as we'll let choose teams where do they want to sit in the venue with the signup order
after we close signups, we will check what map pool and whitelist do you want for this event where all players will be able to vote
we will provide an event schedule soon
the whole event will be streamed on twitch.tv/essentialstf
thanks to Arie's support we are going to host LAN serveme, so it will be more convenient to reserve servers for your matches :)

Will there be a qualifier type tournament if there will be more than 16 teams signed up or is it first come first serve
going offline on steam will achieve the same goal as disabling internet if you want to do other stuff while recording old demos
DavyCanyone find a fix for old demos? when i do this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3010274168 i get the error that it failed to initialize taunt data
the pre smissmass fix worked for me yesterday before this update.
do you get the error when you run the game or play a demo?
deliPre 25/07 branch seems to be affected and now crashes to desktop
same happened with pre smissmass 2022 branch during the summer update
