In the future I think we're going to use a slack in order to more effectively communicate between team leaders and organisers. Allows everyone to see what's going on and have an input on how it's run, when it's held, times and format etc.
Naw naw we didn't graciously accept them playing, I actively approached them and wanted them to play for the hype factor. And we didn't change the dates for froyo, they never said it was bad, but we changed the rules to allow for NY servers to be used. It wasn't like they should be glad for the opportunity to play, it's the same as Ascent - if they didn't wanna play and said beforehand then I don't mind, it's their decision.
CondoMWhat a fucking joke.
Not a single team was playing with its full roster so the cup could be played when Froyo could play and then froyo just fuck off and don't even show up. And not just froyo fucking off but the fact that no results can be drawn from this cup as it was literally just mixes playing other mixes, massive delays and practically half of the scheduled games actually got played. Really REALLY needs better organizing.
Think about how all that looks to zowie when they decide to sponsor a tournament for our scene - and valve, who mentioned the tournament on their site which gathered a shitton of views.
It just simply makes the tf2 competitive scene look like a fucking joke which to be fair, today, it was.
NOTHING to do with the organisation that everyone was playing with mixes.
Teams are offered a $500 tournament. 10 teams are approached, all given the dates a month in advance and asked to raise any issues. We change the date of the event to suit teams about 4 times before it is finalised a few weeks later.
If even with that amount of forewarning and liaising with the organiser there are no teams without 2 ringers then it's just a consequence of the teams not planning well enough or people genuinely being too busy to commit time to TF2. It's not on me to make sure you're not using mix teams you fucknuggets! I gave you long enough to plan ahead and choose subs, along with incentive to do it.That is nothing to do with the organisation (which was bad re: delays and pretty much nothing else since david is a boss and covered for me perfectly).
DanceNumberspammyJesus Christ, TF2 team actually mentioned our small community AND organized a tournament to hype everyone before i55? I feel honored, it feels so good to be a tf2 player. Thanks Evrews.
News posts literally mean fuck all. No one reads anything but the the blog.
I think the views on the trailer kinda disprove that, a lot of people were interested.
Also this information has been available to top teams for a month now. Kratos has known for ages.
dogs will lose to full tilt
ascent will have a close game vs a bad team
nerdrage will beat an american team and then lose to reason
tlr will be competitive vs everyone but lose
my preds
wait wait WAIT
owl is a different person to mr_owl?!
from the classic "Behind the Scenes: TFTV"
What's it like playing on that? Fps on average?
fireindaarcadeIt's really good for TLR to have a player with lots of experience in high pressure lan situations. I'm sure Nico has some experience with the French scene, but there's a big difference between those and i55.
Since they brought WAR and Alfa in, they now only have 3 players from their team who don't have LAN experience at a top level. That's only one more than reason, helps them out a lot imo.
Fair enough, and as for alfa I think he's not a really top level roamer from what I've seen (for example on the level of blaze, mike, seagull, zebbo, rising, sdb) and he won't be able to practise until a week before the LAN but he's the next best thing. And he's had a tonne of lan experience and has a lot more versatility than some of those players. I think it'll add what TLR need - more random explosive ability, more stability and more experience. Assuming he doesn't throw to let ascent win.
FireStarwMinor thing, but why does the banner have scrap.tf while the news post has sweepstakes.tf? Are both of geel's websites supposed to be sponsors?
No, I fucked up the info at the beginning and due to miscommunication from me I assumed it was ScrapTF. Made the image, then moved house and haven't had a chance to change it - changing the wording was much easier. Will fix the image within the next few hours.
EDIT: Done
fireindaarcadeWas there ever a good explanation for why Hys left TLR? I never felt like I saw one.
Dislocated / broke his arm. He's done it before and it always takes him out of the game for a good while.
Sheepyloltsc
most European players are probably happy with ETF2L
Apart from the Nazis and Permzilla its actually alright. Much much better than ESEA at least.
Well in terms of how it's run, the decisions it makes, the ease of use and lack of cost etc it definitely is. But in terms of prizepool, sustainability and legitimacy for TF2 it is much much worse.
I'd love to see us move to some kind of ESL/ESEA thing (assuming they didn't try to fuck us), but even if it had exactly the same PR and was run the same as etf2l I don't think we'd see europe adopt it.
