tf_dropped_weapon_lifetime -1
Disables all dropped weapons. It needs sv_cheats 1 though.

This is clientside though, so you'd have to enable cheats, everyone will then have to do it manually, and then disable cheats again.
sm_cvar tf_dropped_weapon_lifetime 0 works server-side, no need for sv_cheats too. COMP TF2 IS SAVED. Maybe. I believe it does require sourcemod however.

sm_cvar does require sourcemod yeah, so you'd have to install a plugin on every server for it to work, which I don't see happening (not in etf2l at least), so it looks like there isn't an easy fix (right now at least).

But then again I can't remember the last time a change this big was made to TF2. Perhaps ETF2L will go that bit further this time?

It's such a bad idea to be moving away from Valve this early on especially! If we don't like something we have to let them know, and if they listen - good! If they don't, then we should follow them. Not start creating a promod when we're on the cusp of something great.

Multiplay hopefully have a fix, and if they don't then we might have a fix. If all else fails, well then there's a back-up plan...

TF2Pickup is an excellent pickup site but please don't go there to learn how to play TF2 :(

Well of course you time the uber from when he spawns + 45 seconds - the time left in the medigun. It doesn't matter when he picks it up - you can assume they picked it up straight away. If you're right then they have the max uber possible, if you're wrong then you've overestimated their uber and you won't get caught by it anyway. I don't get it, what's so hard?

cmeif you dry push a team with full Uber ad and they kill your medic, suddenly they have a huge Uber ad, the ad they picked up from your med and the ad from the spawn timer

But you can't take them both along with you all the way to last. So in any situation you lose here, you would have lost anyway pre-update (i.e. you're very close to your last and only one uber away from losing the round).

ShooshSo many good and bad points for this change on paper. It's one thing putting out hypotheticals (?) but we wont know for sure if we hate it or not unless we test it and give it some time.

If we don't like it I'm sure someone has the ability to create a plug-in to revert the change or something.

This is exactly what we shouldn't do. We either stick with it or get valve to change it. Deviating from valve's plan for MM already is just plain and simply stupid.

CondoMSideshowActually I think the correct play there would be to push BEFORE they get the uber up, as in you insta dry-push into last/2nd. If you play for the medic and then defend yours, you now have a HUGE advantage pushing into last as you steal their medigun. It does have a lot of broken points but the counter to all of this is to dry push imo. It's a bit broken but it could work out ok - a new meta will evolve if valve are sure this is what they want to do.But how will you know when that "BEFORE they get the uber up" time is? You have no way of counting the uber and you'll most likely be dry-pushing into a full uber. Don't know about you but I don't think most teams are willing to push into a likely full uber disadvantage.
My point being, uber advantages in these scenarios when the medic has a chance to pick up a medigun will be impossible to predict. And I feel the best option then is to play it safe with a passive hold until you eliminate the risk of having a disadvantage - by getting full uber yourself.

You should know what the ubers were before the medics died, and when the medic spawned, so you know the advantage. There's no "missing information" here, you can work out the advantage. You can even time the drop to see whether they can pick up a medigun or whether it will have disappeared. I don't get where you're coming from with it being impossible to predict. I've just been doing it in pugs all morning.

EDIT: Not really cherry, happens far less than you might think.

no, I tested this.

Dropping UBERSAW with 100% Uber = NO UBER FOR ENEMY TEAM

Yeah but now you have to decide whether to switch back to medigun to pop it or not. If you get a swipe and get the uber, then switch to medigun and die, you fucked it for your team even worse. If you switch to medigun and pop it, you're a hero.

Someone (I suspect smzi personally) has created a website dedicated to the anonymous posting of realtalk.

Anyone can submit comments or articles anonymously, and they get reviewed by whoever "realtalk" is to make sure it isn't spam and added to the site. Pretty diverse spread of bullshit, crap and absolutely gold on there atm and it's only been up 2 days. Get involved america, it's mostly EU stuff on there right now.

PhunkThis update motivated me to practice ctaps because getting that much distance on each jump was crazy fun

I think something that you missed out of that 2nd part though is that you can actually push with uber into last before they even spawn - building ubers is something that paces 6v6 at the moment and spawns etc are all designed around that. Cap time also does it, but now ubers are not a pacing mechanic at all, only capping is. Perhaps we should give it a day or two to see how it plays out, but I feel like all these counter arguments are "it's not so bad". There's no real positive to this update as far as I can see, other than it's easier to snowball. I count that as a bad point but you could argue it's a positive I guess.
