#3 Different Sens for Different Classes; How To in Q/A Help

Under

/tf/cfg

create

medic.cfg
scout.cfg
engineer.cfg
(etc)

At the top of each, add the line

sensitivity 1.0

replacing 1.0 with whatever you want.

For bonus, sensitivities per weapon slot, make some aliases and have the alias for "slot 1" also run the sensitivity command, etc.

I think it's a silly idea to have different sensitivities though.

#174 Global whitelist unveiled in News
quicaJust played a mix to test the unlocks
Loch 'N Load is insane vs scouts and on mids, with kritz if you hit it's pretty nutty. You can literally snipe their Medic as a demoman without sticks extremely easily and it just munches on scouts.

Parachute was aids but more gimmicky - if your scouts just shoot the parachuting player its a free pick, but if they don't you can do surprisingly more than I expected.

Jarate when holding or just spamming it in then pushing is crazy good, easy to just spam it into choke and deny a push and kill everything. Makes playing without Jarate unviable from what I played - same with the old quick fix, you had to use it essentially.

The parachute us unbanned?! :(

Is this whitelist on whitelist.tf?

If demos are more powerful, then I'm happy with that. As for the atomizer, can't soldiers run shotgun (and now demos run locknload) to deal with it? Going back to shotgun changes things up a bit, but does it change them for the worse?

#124 Global whitelist unveiled in News

So.... same whitelist, but not same map pool or same ruleset?

Are faceit likely to follow this?

And to repeat someone else, if it is decided that this whitelist needs to change, who now changes it?

#5 Can't connect to TF2 servers. Options? in Q/A Help

It turns out the computer society /does/ block TF2, but unintentionally.

They are fine with games, but need to block torrenting, so they have lazy rules on their gateway that blocks large blocks of ports. Now, I might be able to ask for a few exception rules to be added, but before I ask, I need to know what, exactly, does modern TF2 need, at minimum, to connect. Can anyone help?

Edit: I should add that their gateway connects to one of the uni's routers on their network, which does not block TF2 and I play fine on, but the wifi signal cuts out whenever a car drives past and I have now dropped 2 ubers pushing into last because of this. :(

#60 Time for Na & Eu to start using the same ruleset ? in TF2 General Discussion
bearodactylWasn't sure how it worked in terms of which maps are played in what weeks and how the team matchups work (thought you may play two different teams on different maps each week but it looks like its just 1 team on 2 maps from what you said)

Assuming there's 8 weeks and 9 teams in prem that would work but i feel like in IM or open you would only get to play 8 teams in the season vs up to 16 which makes it much more beneficial to get an easy schedule
That being said it makes each week more fun and variety is never a bad thing (unless you have to play reckoner....)

Yes, 1 match, 1 opponent, 2 maps in a week. Except there are 7 weeks and maps. Last season, the regular season went:

  • Week 1: cp_badlands & cp_snakewater_u8
  • Week 2: cp_snakewater_u8 & cp_process_final
  • Week 3: cp_process_final & koth_product_rc8
  • Week 4: koth_product_rc8 & cp_reckoner_b2a
  • Week 5: cp_reckoner_b2a & cp_gullywash_final1
  • Week 6: cp_gullywash_final1 & cp_granary_pro_rc3
  • Week 7: cp_granary_pro_rc3 & cp_badlands

It used to be 8 teams per division, round robin, and scheduling matches was up to teams, who had a 2 week time slot to play a given week's match (and yes there were something like 20 divisions). Only prem works like that now. For open/mid/high, swiss scoring is used and teams are assigned an opponent with the same number of points as them, and given a 5 day time window to play the match (1 match being about 1.5 hours on a server with the other team, playing the week's 2 maps. Order the maps are played in only matters if your opponent complains).

bearodactyl No idea how the EU map rotation works could someone explain how there are two maps played each week? Sounds like an interesting idea.

What's there to understand? Each week you play 1 match against 1 team. A match involves both teams joining a server, loading the etf2l config, setting the map to the current week's first map, RUP and play for 30 minutes, screenshot the result, change the server to the current week's second map, RUP again, play for 30 minutees, screenshot the result, go to the etf2l site, write down the score for each map, with screenshots for evidence (+screen shot of "status" output to prove which players played).

#17 I sent this to valve in TF2 General Discussion

Class limits is fine, class limit 1 on all but pyro, soldier and scout would vastly improve MM.

For the new players, you just need add some sort of note that gets them to buy into the idea, something like "to encourage fluid gameplay and discourage stalemates, defense and support classes are limited to 1".

And for the players with literally less than 1 hour in the game need to be directed to something like tr_walkway, where you can see for yourself what everything does.

Thanks, I knew there was a way of doing this without literally 1000 ping. I'll poke my team and friends for volunteers.

#1 Can't connect to TF2 servers. Options? in Q/A Help

I moved into a new place last week and it doesn't have internet. I didn't think this would be a problem because I can take my laptop to my uni computer society for TF2, but even though nothing about the network blocks steam (mostly*), TF2 servers don't like what they get and I can't reach them.

Any ideas on what to do? I considered proxies but I've been told my total latency is not just me to the proxy to the server; the proxy itself adds upwards of a second.

*mostly: you have to run steam with "steam -tcp" for it to reliably work, else there's a chance steam will attempt to make the initial connection on a blocked port.

DirtyMorti'm aware that its an eu tournament, and the majority of the viewers are from europe so there will likely be a bit of a bias in the casting. But I think its over the line to say things like "Maybe b4nny should smash some more of his peripherals to get a technical timeout" after froyo loses a mid. Its just very unprofessional and kinda takes away from the viewing experience to make dumb statements/jokes like that

There's plenty of jabs made at all the teams. You're complaining about nothing (and probably a little salty).
