#6 Steam Guard Mobile Authenticatorv in Off Topic

I can confirm that this works, been doing it for a while. The only thing is that sometimes it asks you to either pay for it or download an app or something, just click the download and you can keep on using it. It has not downloaded anything for me.

#9 Zoom sens fix in Customization

I was watching a sakiisa video and he mentioned this. In summary, tf2 scales zoom sensitivity on an in-game fov of 75. If you use an fov of anything else it will scale incorrectly, faster to be more precise. I went testing, and I found that in gldsrc games (half life, cs 1.6, the engine tf2 was based off of) that if you use a zoom value of 1 it scales it to be a correct scaling of your out of scope sensitivity. This must mean that it also has something to do with how the fov in those games was scaled vertically and possibly aspect ratio, but for the sake of our sanity I will not try to figure that out. What I do know though, is that in tf2, in order to achieve a correctly scaled sensitivity in-scope you must divide 75/(current fov). Don't take into account if you are using 4:3 or not, just the in-game fov_desired value. So for people on an fov of 90, the correct value is .83333... continued.

TL;DR
I hope that makes sense, in short, to find the correct scale just do 75/(in-game fov) and that will give you the correctly scaled sensitivity value. Don't take into account 4:3 or 16:9.

Edit: I read that csgo thread, and I'm sorry to say that I am not sure which value is correct. I know sakiisa did the math behind his value and I thought the 2 games scale the same way, (40 fov in scope does not matter) but it's a very minor difference, although if you are looking to even get the correct scaling you probably want the right number. It actually might be possible that since csgo does not start with 75 fov by default that it does not scale quite the same way. I would go with my equation, 75/(in-game fov) for tf2 and then the threads value for csgo.

#24 is suicide a joke? in Off Topic

No, what he is saying is legitimate. People will say the same stuff in real life, I speak from experience, it's just easier to tell if they are being serious or not.

The person be told as such just needs to treat it as any troll, or if they are too young to do so, they will most likely tell their parents and they will help them. I don't like it either, but that's just how it is.

#29 Deciding on New Mouse in Hardware

Anything by zowie is godlike. I used to play with the DA as well, and then I switched to the ambidextrious za12, which I will admit took a little bit, but it feels so much better to hold it and do fast movements. I have a finger tip grip though so it works great for me, you would probably want to stay with the ec2-a

Nice to see more modern games with a fluid skill based movement system like this and reflex.

Most important and fun part of a game imo.

#10 sens feels diffrent when mgeing in TF2 General Discussion

Others have said it, and they are 100% true. Your sensitivity feels faster because it is smoother because you are in a very small map with only one player allowing for a large gain in fps compared to normal servers. It is not faster, but just smoother. I would not set a limit unless you really don't like adjusting but generally speaking smooth mouse movement is better.

Start an empty game with no bots and it should feel similar.

#98 m0rehud black in Customization
Max_How do you use the hud crosshairs? I installed the fonts but am having trouble getting them to work.

go to tf/custom/m0rehud black/scripts/hudlayout.res

Open the file with notepad++ if you have it, if not just open it in notepad.

CrosshairVMT
{
"controlName" "CTFImagePanel"
"fieldName" "CrosshairVMT"
"visible" "0"
"enabled" "1"
"zpos" "2"
"xpos" "c-13"
"ypos" "c-13"
"wide" "26"
"tall" "26"
"scaleimage" "1"
"image" "replay/thumbnails/ql_7"
}

CrossHairTLR
{
"controlName" "CExLabel"
"fieldName" "CrossHairTLR"
"visible" "0"
"enabled" "1"
"zpos" "1"

"xpos" "c-12"
"ypos" "c-14"
"wide" "24"
"tall" "23"

"font" "CrossHairTLR"
"labelText" "+"
"fgcolor" "255 255 255 255"
"textAlignment" "center"
}

CrossHairTLRShadow
{
"controlName" "CExLabel"
"fieldName" "CrossHairTLRShadow"
"visible" "0"
"enabled" "1"
"zpos" "1"

"xpos" "c-12"
"ypos" "c-14"
"wide" "24"
"tall" "23"

"font" "CrossHairTLRShadow"
"labelText" "+"
"fgcolor" "0 0 0 255"
"textAlignment" "center"
}

CrossHairSeeker
{
"controlName" "CExLabel"
"fieldName" "CrossHairSeeker"
"visible" "0"
"enabled" "1"
"zpos" "1"
"xpos" "c-14"
"ypos" "c-12"
"wide" "24"
"tall" "24"
"font" "CrossHairNormal"
"labelText" "x"
"fgcolor" "235 226 202 255"
"textAlignment" "center"
}

Those are the crosshairs. The first one is an open cross with dot, the second is a + with an outline, third is the same but a shadow, and the last one is similar to the scout default crosshair. To enable these crosshairs, replace the 0 across from the "visible" text with a 1 like so.

CrossHairSeeker
{
"controlName" "CExLabel"
"fieldName" "CrossHairSeeker"
"visible" "1"
"enabled" "1"
"zpos" "1"
"xpos" "c-14"
"ypos" "c-12"
"wide" "24"
"tall" "24"
"font" "CrossHairNormal"
"labelText" "x"
"fgcolor" "235 226 202 255"
"textAlignment" "center"
}

After you have done this, you need to save the file, and then type hud_reloadscheme in the console if you have tf2 open, or just launch the game and it should take effect. If if does not, hud_reloadscheme will work. To disable just put a 0 there instead of 1 and save it again. Whenever you make a change type hud_reloadsheme just to be safe.

#1 BenQ XL2411Z worth it? in Hardware

I currently have an Acer GN246HL which I could probably sell and get around $175 - $200 for. I am in no financial crisis, and I am wondering if it would be worth it to go through the selling process, and handing out an additional ~$70-100 for a Benq XL2411Z

The one I have works fine, but I heard the BenQ might have better input lag I think. I don't mind paying money, just is the difference worth it.

#8 Resolution Poll in Customization

The results are pretty expected imo except I would expect 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 720 to have switched places.

I am curious about how big the 4:3 ratios would be in a csgo community.

Here's a csgo poll if you want to do that as well. I expect similar results with maybe a bit more 4:3

#5 Moving across country - advice? in Off Topic
GetawhaleIn my experience, the work part can be the most difficult with this. I've done two long distance moves and am getting ready for another. Finding a place to live can be fine if you're very open and etc etc.

For my most recent move, I've decided that it may be easiest to save enough money to live somewhere a couple months and then try to get a job there. This seems like not the ideal choice (and obviously, as mentioned above and as your parents etc will probably echo, it's not) but it's just too much to tell an employer "hello I can't interview in person, and also I don't have a place to live lined up yet and am not in the city etc". At the very least if you move there first, you can pound the pavement hard on the job hunt and it seems likely that in a 2 month span, you'll be able to find SOMETHING for a job if you try. You'll be on a bit of a timer, but that's just all the more motivation to go secure work. If you save for 3 months, that's a fair amount of time.

So I guess my advice is.. consider doing up a budget in Excel/whatever of how much money you'll realistically have to spend to live somewhere two/three/whatever number of months, including rent/food/luxury/as specific as you can get, and then save that money. That's what I'm currently doing. You may get lucky with an employer that will interview by Skype and is totally cool, but in my experience that's rare. If you can do your budget accurately, including money you'll blow on dumb shit/Subway/shit for your moving expenses/shipping, it'll feel damn good and you'll have a concrete goal. Then find an apartment, figure out how to get there, and just.. go.

Don't wait!

This is very good and much better advise then I could ever give you. I personally was thinking of actually buying a house, but I guess that's not a realistic option for a lot of people, and I don't know and don't really want to know you're age (privacy). It's also never a bad idea to consult your parents, if even for help just with finances, and I'm sure there are plenty of experience stories on google.

If you have the money though, it's less risky to fly out and land a job then to straight up move everything, but if you're ok with that and can hold down the fort until you get a good paying job then go for it.

Edit: Now knowing your situation (refresh ftw) if you're comfortable with getting out there then I think you should do it. I'm not to sure how hard it is to get a banking job, I don't think it would be all that difficult although it may be a process, but in the meantime you could take up a small job just to ease the strain on your wallet.
