I use ahud most of the time. Currently playing 800x600 but I don't remember 640x480 ever giving me issues which I use on and off

#19 Christmas loot? in Off Topic

3 packs of Toblerone + Skittles (never had skittles before because I don't eat candy that much and it's difficult to find in stores here)
50 euros
A pillow with text that glows in the dark. It's a poem about not being able to fall asleep which is pretty ironic for something that glows in the dark
Being able to spend time with family was a nice gift by itself because I'm lucky enough to have likeable family members

I gave my grandmother flowers. She's an awesome person

Also on New Year's Eve I'm seeing my dad for the first time since like April so that's nice too

#2 Desk in Hardware

I'm assuming the first one is more expensive because it uses wood (more expensive than plastic) and is better quality because of the foil and the layer of acrylic. You'll be fine with the cheap one.
I'd probably go with the slightly more expensive one though. The difference in price isn't that big and it'll probably last longer

#8 We need more maps for local practice in TF2 General Discussion

I like tr_arena
A slightly improved newbots. No walls where rockets can splash on so better for airshot practise

#27 Prepare me psychologically for the update in TF2 General Discussion

Not even trying to meme:
They could buff pyro mechanics to a point were almost every last hold will use a pyro in 6s because it'd be stupid not to.
If the core mechanics of pyro become absolute aids not even the global whitelist can save us unless stock pyro gets banned which will never happen.
That's the worst case scenario.

I'm hopeful though. They listen to sigsegv and he made a mod for cone shaped airblasts with actual physics. They also mentioned http://frompyrowithlove.com/ in their blog post. So all in all I'm actually quite okay with what I've seen so far. I'm expecting more fixes than buffs.

I'm looking less forward to the heavy update though. Heavy currently is so boring I'm expecting them to add an entirely new mechanic to make it fun in pubs which can go very poorly

#3 Hud help in TF2 General Discussion

http://puu.sh/sV0D2/af2a8ee03f.png

Didn't he already reply to you over a year ago?

It definitely looks like he modified the HUD himself with the whole 'lucky bastard' thing on the death screen so I doubt you'll find an exact copy of this HUD. He might've modified a lot of other things from the base HUD.
Also the killstreak counter is the default one and there isn't even an indicator when he's getting healed with the medigun by the med so this possibly was a very old hud that he never updated.

Your best bet is modifying Garm3n VIP konr yourself. Removing the health cross from that version already makes it pretty similar. You can find a more up-to-date version of Garm3n VIP konr here: http://www.teamfortress.tv/33738/ive-updated-some-huds
It's in the list in the OP

edit: also here's Calm Like a Bomb HUD but it seems to be a bit out of date as well. Didn't find any screenshots on the page though https://github.com/Slayer89/slayhud

#34 what introduced you to tf2? in TF2 General Discussion

I had a ps3 with some CoD games but I only really liked Black Ops 1 anymore. I was at the point where I carried every game and it was geting a struggle + sort of boring. Also hackers were already slowly taking over more and more lobbies.

In 2012 I was going to college which meant I'd need a laptop for myself. Seemed like a great opportunity to make the switch to PC.
I remembered liking the look of TF2 and that it's free. Seemed like a good way to learn how to use mouse + keyboard. So I started watching TF2 youtubers to prepare the summer before I got my laptop. The plan was to eventually play other games but that didn't happen for a long long time

#2 bind question in Customization

yes. Just make the 2 seperate binds for switching to scout and sniper.
In sniper.cfg put the bind to switch to scout
In scout.cfg put the bind to switch to sniper

bind x "join_class sniper"
this goes in scout.cfg

bind x "join_class scout"
this goes in sniper.cfg

#5 4:3 Resolution advantage? in Customization

I've been switching between my native res (1366x768), 640x480 and everything inbetween for a while. I mostly use 640x480 or 800x600. I also occasionally play on 1280x600 for higher than 90 fov

Though there is a certain fps gain it's not a big one. As a matter of fact I'd say it's insignificant compared to me using my native res. On my native res I do notice some fps drops during mid fights/pubs I don't on 640x480. Though keep in mind I play on a 3 year old laptop so depending on what specs you have you won't even notice this improvement.

The wider gaps/wider models thing to make things easier to see isn't a big deal. I also switch between stretched and black bars a lot and don't consider it impactful.

The change in feel of your sens is very minor and I can switch between resolutions in the middle of playing and not notice it.

Not seeing things in periphirals does somestimes influence things. When rewatching demos in 16:9 I do notice things I couldn't notice at the time because of playing with 4:3. Though I wouldn't say this has a big impact in the end. Just don't forget to check corners properly (which you should also be doing with 16:9 anyway). You might notice someone hiding too late. During fights you're not randomly going to lose track of someone because you see less of your surroundings so I don't consider it a big deal.

It's 90% preference. Though my specs are shit I can (and do) still run 16:9 and have basically the same experience
