zenmodeThe problem is, no other league has these sort of restrictions for their highest division. Sure, you see a points system in lower ETF2L divs to prevent sandbagging, but any rule restricting team composition in TOP level play is generally going to be regarded as suspect, no matter what you do.
Yeah well its his league, his time, his money, and it's worth trying, if the rule makes sense.
Also whats up with NBA I thought these guys had a salary cap in place. I dont know shit about basketball so what point are you trying to make?
ok thanks Nursey and Rhy for the clarifications
CrazyyCowTwiggyI mean i'm not firing shots but hearing her at this time + aim on the esea nerd essay thread, and then see them join froyo, seems a bit disappointing when I and many other viewers want to believe in the myth of the froyo-slaying team, even though it's a move that makes perfect sense as an individual. To be fair, if there is ever a season where there are chances for froyotech to be slayed its this one. Froyo Black, 20b, ascent and a lot of other teams have top players who can/have challenged froyotech.
I may have missed it, but is froyo black going to be like its previous iteration (a no scrim team)?

After discussing it with friends who agree with you sigafoo, how about you make your intended goal of killing a super team with different, subtler, and general rules?
Have you considered:
- Enforcing a salary cap using a system similar to fantasy tf2, where a team can not exceed a certain combined cost?
- Being less extreme with the rule of "1 froyo player/team" and go for something like "no more than 3 esea invite players/team"
- Using a handicap system; for example stating that any team that wins the season, or back to back seasons, receives some kind of round deficit for each match, etc
- Allow a team to bypass your rules but applying a round penalty to their results eg. give current froyo -2 (for example) to each of their round results
?
sigafooFortunately, when you either have enough money or enough players, you don't have to choose. We made the choice for the greater community, maybe it's the wrong one. We'll find out after this season and find out how competitive it is.
""
How does that benefit to "the greater community"?
Not everyone is able to play matches against froyo. In fact, only 7v7 Invite-level players can. Of the Invite-level teams, not every team is strong enough to fight for the top (or the 2nd place, doesn't matter). It seems that your decision impacts positively only this small number of teams.
It will also create instability in Invite teams, as some would be likely to cut players to make room for froyo refugees, in order to secure prize money. Reading you, it looked like you were against instability.
Now think about the quality of streamed matches, probably watched by most of your players in the lower divisions. Do these people, who make the backbone of your league and comp TF2 community, prefer to watch artificially castrated competition, or do they prefer to watch good games truly representing what being the best at tf2 means (such as the last RGL finals)?
At the very least, you could have chosen a less extreme way of enforcing what you call a "salary cap", like by not making froyo split completely to see what effect it has.
Didn't nursey leave froyo the first time because she wanted to challenge the top team and finally topple them? Why this change of mind?
sageBlueBucketAt least product isnt the only koth map any more which is good.why is it good
id say its better to keep it consistent and make it all 5cp, just like CS makes it all defuse maps
still glad cardinal is out...
disagreed, koth maps are :
-different to play, which brings both diversity and more skill to the game (more things to learn)
-fun to watch for viewers
-free of stalemates
Having them is good. But you'll never get everyone to agree on map pools. Since we have 3 seasons per year, we could have a core of maps (say, 3 or 4) stay for all the seasons, then swap a few maps around for each season. Everyone would be happy at some point during the year. And then, if lans keep the pick/ban thing for all matches, the lan map pool can be 50 maps and it wouldn't be a problem.
This message shows my support to ETF2L admins for finally introducing a second koth map in the rotation. The purpose of a good map pool is to have maps that play differently from each other and this is a step in the good direction!!
sticky det bug, and snipers who quickscope my medic even though they are shot at and have jittery xhair
MamzzNurseyDo you know the enemy team is going to run at you? Put stickies on the entrances. That's just a general rule for demoman. If you're not in the uber, just put stickies behind the uber until you know it's safe for you to walk in. This also gives the people a safety net to fall on if their uber isn't going properly. And what do i do in case the enemy scout/soldier is tunneling me?
Generally those two guidelines should be enough to not let you fall victim to being the #1 priority in most uber fights.
I assume you ask what you do against an enemy ubered player; Either you're far away enough, either, if you can't simply walk away, you can either go closer to your medic to request a flash or jump away. But this should not happen with proper positioning (ex : a corner away from the uber)
