#83 tf2center down? in TF2 General Discussion

maybe i'm exaggerating because of your alias, i just have distinct memories of you offclassing as heavy more than the average person and this post of you defending brightly just kind of cemented my opinion that you're more on the side of supporting fulltime offclassing as being unique or innovative

sorry again if i'm wrong

anyways, "effectiveness" of offclassing really shouldn't be considered when it comes to doing it excessively. that makes things complicated when it comes to enforcing rules by saying shit like "___ is a good sniper so it's fine but you're not so you're banned". in #tf2pugna people got banned for fulltime sniping just because that shit wasn't fun, it didn't matter how good they were at sniping. it honestly seems like a super easy thing to enforce

i thought this rule has been around for a while so i don't know how brightly isn't banned after disregarding it for so long and with so many people complaining about it

also highclass heavy is a pleasant dude but the fact he himself would play an incredible amount of heavy in 6s games seems to show a personal bias justifying excessive offclassing

#26 Decent Old School FPS games? in Other Games

quakeworld is best quake game, the community is basically just like 6 people in one server taking turns dueling tho

enemy territory actually has nations cups and shit still and it's a lot of fun (you nerds never pugged with me you know who you are.) dirty bomb is based off enemy territory but it's not as good

the new unreal tournament is pretty fun for mindless ffa

sadly arena shooters are pretty dead in general, you'll find at least some people in any of the games people listed but the ones with the most people/chance for growth are reflex, unreal tournament, and dirty bomb (if it even counts)

#43 A talk about lobby seriousness in TF2 General Discussion

Eh, coming from someone who has played a lot of lobbies/centers I can see both sides. tf2lobby and now tf2center has always been the site for "competitive format, but not as serious as pugs." There are legitimately people who play like retards because they find that style fun and not just at the expense of others. Stabby plays a lot of centers and he always ends up playing full-time spy towards the end of the game. Does he annoy the fuck out of everyone, including his own team? Yes. Is he doing it solely for that reason? No.

To be honest, advanced lobbies were a cool concept before that tf2c controversy came up and they basically scrapped them. I feel like there should be some niche relaxed ruleset way to pug and this shit you're talking about isn't new. tf2lobby had people fuck around with unlocks and offclasses for years. A lot of people did it.

The problem is that tf2center is a lot of people's introduction to competitive, which it probably shouldn't be. If you actually want to show people competitive, use newbie mixes. I would say this even if centers didn't have people dicking around because it's not a fun environment to get shit talked by your team all game because you're new and there's no matchmaking system to have you play with people your skill level.

As for people that are legitimate trolls and actively try to ruin games, kick them. Every game has assholes in the community and you're going to run into them.
