If you're getting the 4770k, that means you'll be overclocking, in which case you probably want an aftermarket cooler, I'd suggest the Hyper 212. If he doesn't intend on overclocking, he should just get the 4770, but even then, you probably want the cooler to be safe.

The k means that it is unlocked, meaning you can overclock it, which is usually a good idea to buy, since you should have plenty of cooling from the 212.

The speed is a little bit too fast, if you slowed it down 30% and made it so it just looped in one direction around, instead of stopping and changing direction, it would be perfect.

You have a micro ATX board and a mid tower, you could probably get a board with more memory slots, and generally make installation easier by picking up a similarly priced ATX board, besides that it looks fine to me.

I'm pretty sure that went away during steampipe. They probably just haven't reimplemented it.
