seems like rly cool technology but not gonna lie, there really needs to be a way for it to adapt and recognize cut transitions cuz they look kinda shit (go to 0.25 speed in the lego example and you can see instead of just going between one scene and the other it like blooms out sort of)
in the example video there's a bit of artifacting too where it doesn't quite interpolate it correctly, would be curious to see how it does with tf2 but my guess is it might be harder to do than these super simple stop motion shots and result in more errors
charity is good but why are you asking for us all to pay extra money towards a LAN that isn't going to happen and has already been paid for, if you have extra money to donate to charity instead of paying out prizes....
yea sorry sigafoo i get what you're saying but there is zero chance there is lan happening this season (didn't the post announcing s3 even say this) so wait until next season to charge people for 'lan sustainability'
in fact you should give people from s2 their money back and simply charge people in s4 more if that's the season lan is going to be, it makes no sense to charge people for some future LAN that might not even happen
walrex lowkey a beast
These guys are all rly good and the team has a lot of potential, hoping to see them get some solid pickups and improve as a team together
Can we get the actual stats for map preference and promod stuff released publicly please? I dont see any reason not to show people, I'm curious what percentage voted for scout speed or arrow fix for example. Not like other stuff that RGL has decided to keep from the public where it's protecting someone's identity who will be harassed lol.
ESEA had 3 bans for each team with a 9 map pool and it worked a lot better for regular season imo, should probably have an invite meeting and talk about that system versus current home/away system (which will now basically allow home to pick whichever out of 7 maps that they want unless they added a third ban to the away team)
I guess if RGL isn't going to do it themselves I might as well, vote here:
https://www.strawpoll.me/19910234 (gran vs villa)
https://www.strawpoll.me/19910250 (badlands vs villa mostly out of curiosity)
mustardoverlordDid you ask people to rate the new maps compared to each other or did you ask them whether they thought certain maps were good enough to replace the old ones
Like I for one would like to see a granary vs Villa poll for instance
This exactly, you people need to understand that literally the only thing that matters is the votes compared to each other. My team all though villa was the worst but didn't really like any of the maps so we voted them all low except reckoner like 3 cause it actually plays out decently and the euros like it and have tested it. I guess our votes didn't matter then? This dumb enjoyability shit you guys keep asking about is an awful way to decide these things just make it 'rank these maps best to worst' and then pick whichever one is the highest consistently out of people's rankings. Really think whoever is looking at these stats is extrapolating too much based not very much info. Release the full stats I want to see each players best to worst ranking and tally that up. Also the opinions on these maps were so widely varied between a pretty small sample size I have no idea why you didn't think 'lets ask the broader community about villa and see if they are okay with it, after all the lower divs have to play weekly maps so their opinion matters'
I should probably also say villa is in a pretty early stage of development and has a bunch of issues: botmode said it was their favorite map but agreed with me last needs to be reworked a lot and mid could use some changes as well. Apparently it got updated after the cup and we didn't even get to try that version up. Feels like this is all too rushed for no reason.
I've been asking to see a whole community wide vote between granary (and badlands!!!!) and whichever the most popular new map is for a while now (posted on the forum earlier, messaged boxcar and said it in the discord) but haven't gotten a single real argument against it besides them just basically not wanting to. Propaganda was removed from the poll bit it's being reconsidered now despite basically being the same too, it seems like it's literally just forcing new maps for the sake of being new. Really disappointed in RGL for yet again making rash decisions and not really consulting the community beforehand.
There's still time to do a survey and actually base results off a statistically significant population, whose opinions do matter even if they aren't quite as nuanced if they haven't played the map. ESEA always did a final vote between the new map replacing a map and the old map itself to make sure people were on board with actually removing a map.
Agree with everything that's been said so far in favor of the scout speed. Would be nice to have invite teams scrim it but I really don't think it needs to be tested, we played it for 9 years and the game was fine. I played two pugs yesterday on roamer with the promod and the flow of the game was so much better and team fights were actually interesting. Early damage on mid also mattered more because demos can actually get killed, the med coming faster to mid just means people get healed up early. Medics could actually get caught out and solo ubers were possible instead of the current medics always surviving and leapfrog back and forth simulator that is invite tf2 now. The current meta is so forced by the scout speed and 185 scouts running everywhere, and medics can just play so passive and get kited out for free now.
As someone who played med before and after the change the class is so much more simplified and lower skill ceiling, as alfa said having to surf was way more important and your positioning is actually important versus how sloppy you can be now with a scout to bail you out. Instead of a medics deaths being because of a combo scout not being close enough to latch on your death as a medic will actually be entirely in your own hands from playing positioning better and hitting surfs.
Also scouts will actually have to stand out on their own merit in order to have high impact instead of it just being designed into the class that they get to get all the kills in the server and never die cause they have a med on them 24x7. Like literally just go watch old seagull vods or i55 or something, there was so much more interesting dynamics in play than just one team being a little more sloppy and dying to a demo/scout chase bomb.
upsettings teams and coming back 5-4 are def the most satisfying imo (when ppl flood your mumble afterwards its p hype)
hitting clutch arrows to save people is up there as well, esp when they end up winning a 1v1 because of it
also as tambo said working together and improving as a team and fixing issues that used to plague you is very rewarding
edit: syncing meds with a high bomb is top tier too, surprised nobody mentioned that
